I need to see a picture of the repair manual on how to install a water pump on a 1997 chev, cavalier

1. If equipped with an automatic transmission, remove the exhaust manifold.
2. Drain the cooling system.
3. Remove the thermostat housing to water pump feed pipe bolts.

Remove the thermostat.

To install:

1. Install the thermostat.

Install the thermostat housing to water pump feed pipe.

1. Install the thermostat housing to water pump feed pipe bolt and tighten the thermostat housing to water pump feed pipe bolt to 89 lb inches (10 Nm).
2. If equipped with an automatic transmission, install the exhaust manifold.
3. Fill the cooling system.

mcdevito75 here, Water pump replace on your car is a shop only job, a couple of speciall tools may be needed, you may also have to lift the engine an inch or so. Let your local repair shop handle this job.

Go to you public library they have repair manuals and diagram. Hope this helps and good luck.

If it is the water pump it will have a rad hose attached to it. There is supposed to be a small hole in the bottom of the water pump. When it starts leaking, it's time to replace the pump. You can do it yourself. A few wrenches and a couple hours is all you need. If you are unsure pick up a Haynes manual for your car when you get the new pump.

with the serpentine belt still on,loosen the 3 bolts holding water pump pulley on.remove serpentine belt.remove the 3 bolts and take off the pulley.If you want,you can remove the alternator for easier access to pump.loosen the 4 bolts on pump and allow coolant/water to drain from engine.remove bolts ,remove water pump,clean gasket off engine block.install pump etc.in reverse order.install 50-50 mix of dex-cool coolant(coolant and water mix).run vehicle with radiator cap off to remove air bubbles from system.install radiator cap,top off recover bottle.

yes there is a fuel pump relay for the most part it is under the hood in the fuse box there try this website www.alldatadiy.com if no luck there stop by your local library and get your hands on a Hayne auto repair manual for your car also like to give you this information if you every have any hard to find GM-parts Schram auto & truck parts 1-800-292-1032 and they website is www.schramauto.com.

What engine? Automatic or Manual transmission?

what is a chevrolet cavalier,is it like an opel cavalier or an opel astra ???because if it is the water pump is driven by the timing belt

the best thing to help would be a 'Haynes repair manual', avialable at your local auto parts store. but replacing a water can be difficult if your not particularly mechanically inclined, because it often requires the removal of several other componets as well as flushing the cooling system
