I have a 2006 Pontiac Montana that has the air shocks in the back. About 6 months ago I noticed the shocks were bad so we replaced them both. About 4 weeks after that the compressor motor would run but it would sound like a bunch of marbles bouncing around in it. It did fill with some air but not much. Ride was rough. Yesterday I replaced my compressor with another used one. This one seems to run for 3 seconds then quits. It only puts a little air in the shocks and then quits. What do you think is wrong and what would you suggest?

Answer one is so true. That linkage is called ride height, if it is loose or bent it will shut off the compressor. Reply.

Hi! Check the linkage on the axle to ensure all is well and not bent out of alignment. If you are in a cold area, perhaps water in your air line is frozen as well.

SOURCE: 1999 pontiac grand prix . will not run

If wiggling the wires cured the code, then one of the wires is broken inside the insulation. Pull on each wire one at a time. look for the colored insulation to stretch, this will be the broken wire. For the other car that wont rev up, this is a common when the catalytic concverter is plugged up. This will also cause MAF codes, and in turn, TRAC OFF light.

SOURCE: 2002 Pontiac Montana Thermostat replacement

check the coolant level fiirst...if that is low it wont give you any heat.....to change the thermostat you have to follow the top radiator hose to the engine.at the send of it you will see a clamp take it loose...then you will see the thermostat housing its held in place by 2 bolts . once you remove them you have the thermostat....make sure you clean all the old gasket material off both the housing and mount.also make sure you get a new gasket.

SOURCE: car starts run's 3 seconds shuts down

Your car is equipped with a system called PASSKEY standard on all GM cars and light trucks, try the following procedure to reset the system, the battery being dead will trigger the system.

PASSKEY LOCKOUT RESET GM CARS 1999 UP
1) Put the key in the ignition and turn to the "ON" position. Leave it that way for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes turn the key and take it out. Repeat this process (2) more times (3 times, 30 minutes total) This should reset the passlock system to recognize your key.

SOURCE: 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Supercharger coupler

The rattle you are/were hearing is typical on the Eaton blowers. After they get some miles on them, the coupler wears out and the holes become ob-longed or out of round which causes the rattle you are hearing.
Usually at idle you can hear it very clearly.
I have changed a few, and they are pretty simple to change. Just take off the supercharger belt, then you may have to remove your alternator bracket, depends on which years, drain the supercharger oil with a spray bottle sprayer (it does stink badly) then just remove the 10 or so bolts that hold the snout to the housing. Remember to keep track of where they go, some are different lengths.
You may have to use a rubber mallet, or your hand to hit the snout around to break the gaskets loose. Pull off the old black hockey puck looking thing (coupler) clean out the snout, attach new coupler, then reassemble and put new supercharger oil back in, and your rattle will be gone, at least for another 100k miles.
Best place to get a coupler is at,
http://www.zzperformance.com/grand_prix/products1.php?id=155&catid=106
Costs about 30, plus the few bottles of oil for the supercharger.

My 2004 montana seems to have a bad shock in the rear. It vibrates after 55mph and feels like it jumps if you hit a pothole. Is this what it is?

this is what bad shocks do when they are worn out.have the rear suspension checked out first just in case something in the back is bad.if all okay then replace both rear shocks/struts.they act like this because there is no restriction in the hydraulic portion of the shock to keep the wheels on the road when hitting bumps.

Pontiac Montana overheating

How do you know the thermostat is ok? If in doubt replace it. Water pumps are a even bigger what if. Did he do a radiator flush? Cooling system flush of the engine? Cooling fans come on at what temp and go off when? Replace the engine temperature sensor? 6 years old is bound to have sensors and such go bad.
