Put the headlamp control switch to the raised position. The electronic module controlling the headlights will know their position, whether they raise or not. Install new headlights in the up position and it will all be in sync...

That should be controlled by the switch and not the motor. I would get both head lights in the same position and start them together by disconnecting battery for 10 seconds and starting back together

99 Corvette Headlights open and close for no reason When I'm driving down the road they will just pop up and a little while later close. Then I hear what might be a motor, Any suggestions? Thanks, Don

Could be the switch going bad or a short in a wire. If it had ever been in a accident that is where i would look for a broken or smashed wire.

I have a 1990 chrysler New Yorker, fifth avenue, with the hidden headlamps, and the doors will not open to let the lights go on

Pop-up headlamps or shielded headlamps are operated by either vacuum or electrically.

Vacuum operation is only possible when the engine is running and this type is quite reliable as long as there are no air leaks into the system. A leak caused by a perished hose or similar usually results in both headlamp shutters to fail.

With an electrically operated system it would be unlikely both motors/linkages would fail together which would indicate the failure of a common supply, perhaps a fuse...

92 Toronado headlight doors don't seem to stop when doors are closed.

I would check the headlamp door open and close relays first. One or both of them may be bad. It might be a bad headlamp door motor assembly as well. Is there anything blocking the doors from closing all the way? Have you tried closing and opening them manually? You can remove the rubber boot from the door motor knob and turn it by hand.

Headlights will not open or close on my 88 daytona. Worked fine until I stopped at store. Came out and they would not open again. Fuse and circuit breaker ok. Getting power to motors. If I open them...

Hello
This problem is more than likely the headlight door relay module, the relay is located in the top center of the dash where a speaker would be.
If the headlights do not come on as well as the door don't open then the problem may be the headlight switch, it controls the headlights and the ground side of the relay closing coil. The relay should be fairly cheap. The headlight switch is very cheap as well, to replace it you reach behind the switch and press the silver button at the rear top of the switch, at the same time pull the knob out, once the knob and shaft are out just remove the male threaded nut that secures the switch to the dash panel. Also make sure you like for heat damage to the wires in the connector to the switch, all the terminals should be bright metal, if they are discolored the connector must be replaced with a repair connector. See picture of switch below.

Do you know how to test automotive electrical circuits ?
When the headlamp switch is turned to the HEAD position, battery voltage is applied to the headlamp opening door actuator control module through CKT 103. The LH head lamp door opens when battery voltage is applied to the LH headlamp opening door assembly through CKT 576 and ground is applied to CKT 577. The RH headlamp door opens when battery voltage is applied to the RH headlamp opening door assembly through CKT 578 and ground is applied to CKT 579. When the headlamp switch is moved to the OFF position, battery voltage is applied to the headlamp opening door actuator control module through CKT 306. The LH headlamp door closes when battery voltage is applied to the LH headlamp opening door assembly through CKT 577 and ground is applied to CKT 576. The RH headlamp door closes when battery voltage is applied to the RH headlamp opening door assembly through CKT 579 and ground is applied to CKT 578. Battery voltage is constantly applied to the headlamp opening door actuator control module from the HDLP MOT L MiniFuse® #4 (CKT 2940) and from the HDLP MOT R, MiniFuse #3 (CKT 3040). The headlamp opening door actuator control module is grounded by CKT 150 through Splice Pack #100 to G102.

1989 Reatta: Motor Mechanism on the Headlamp doors do not open.

hello the only thing i can think of is that motor for the lifter is at fault, the motor has a set of switch on them to stop lifting and dropping if one of the switches has gone it will go off cog and be stuck as its a cog system you will not be able to move motor by hand. i would remove the motor and check to see if you can get it to work on a external power source. hope this helps

Replacing headlamp

Start with 94-01 to get the headlamp assembly out and follow the remainder of the instructions if you have halogen lamps and use 94-02 for replacing HID lamps. The only tools that you need are a 6mm socket (with a screw drive handle) to turn the open/close shaft and a pretty long flat head screw driver (about 7" or 8") to depress the securing clip while pulling the assembly out. It may help to have 2 people the first time that you try this but once you get it the first time, it is easy enough for one persone to do it. What ever you do, do not over turn the open/close shaft. Before you order replacement lamps it might help to take the old ones out to make sure that you are ordering lamps with the proper specs.
Download the manual in the below link , it will be much helpful.

2000 formula headlamp doors malfunction.

firebird headlamps are a pain, i had a similar problem with mine, the problem is the gears in the motor assembly are made of a soft material-i think plastic actually and the gears wear down after time-there are 2 ways to fix this problem, 1. replace the gears with brass ones or 2. rotate the gear in the motor to where you are now using the new side of the gear, because only half of the gear is used when operating the headlights so if you rotate the gear to where your now using the unused side--it should work better now--after time tho this side will eventually get worn down as well so this is only a temporary fix.

1991 pontiac firebird retractable headlamps will not open

Could be a loose or bad wire leading to the motor that flips the headlights, or thed motor could be going bad itself. checxk those out, and if its not one of those, it could be in your cars computer.

My S Reg 323i electric roof.

Ive had the same problem on my car. If you open the trunk and pull away the material covering on the left hand side you will find two electric motors similar to the ones that winds the windows these motors have to be in exact sync for the whole system to work fine.

The one drives the lid and the other one drives the roof. You can engage and disengage the motors to get the roof in sync and working perfectly. Also check that when the lid closes it engages a button on the left that allowes the roof to close aver the lid after the lid has closed this button also tells the car that the roof lid is closed and it is ok to let the trunk be opened.

I also suggest that you treat the roof mechanism with some penetrating oil.
