Have a 2001 chevy 2500 hd 4x4 truck that shifts into reverse but wont move.. I shift from park to neutral then drive to 3 to 2 to 1 and all seems good but it wont move in reverse,,, any info on this

Drives in forward and in 1st . 2nd. 3rd and drive, put into neutral all good then put into reverse nothing shift into park its good,,,,

Sounds like the reverse band or servo has gone out. Transmission shop needed for a confirmation.

Sounds like your transfer case in neutral. You have to engage the transfer case back into gear then shift selector to drive or reverse. When your transfer is in neutral the transmission will not operate. Good luck.

Truck will not move when shift into drive or reverse

your trans is toasted.drop your trans pan and look for black sediment in the bottom of the pan.you may even find some hard parts.

sounds like a linkage problem. when in gear, does the shift indicator look like its in-between gears?

no the fuse is for the 4 wd shift motor only, when was the transmission serviced last? if you don't know, i would start there

How do i put my 4x4 on my 95 yukon......on park or neutral. and do i have to put my foot on the brake?

You can shift between 2Hi and 4Hi when the truck is moving. Just let off the gas and shift it. But in order to shift to Neutral or 4Lo you need to stop the truck and shift the transmission into neutral then shift the transfer case.

Have you checked the transmission/gearbox fluid is at the correct level ? This will also cause this. Hope this is of help.

Correct shifting to 4x4 on 1998 chevy 2500 not sure. i will be snow plowing this winter i was told you can shift while driving.or should you stop and put in neutral? thank you.

When shifting to 4wd hi you can shift at anytime.The only time you have to stop or slow down is when your putting it in 4wd low.Does this mean I have to get my snow blower ready?Brrrrrr.
