Toyota avolon wont stop running when you turn the key off

This is known as 'dieseling'. The most common causes are

-idle speed set too high

-engine operating too hot (faulty thermostat, faulty temp sender, leaky head gasket)

engine timing is out (loose distributor clamp, worn timing belt, faulty timing belt tensioner)

Dash light not working for outside temp ect

If vehicle is equipped with ambient temp display and there is no display, check sensor for disconnected/broken. It should be located in front of the radiator area attached to the upper radiator support or one of the brackets bolted to this support

The compass and outside temp on my 2006 Toyota Tacoma quit working. Is there a fuse for this unit and where would I find it?

Are your cruise control, dome, and tail lights also out? If so then it is a fuse. If not then the control unit has gone bad internally. You may be able to get it fixed under your warranty.
If it is not covered by your warranty, check out
www.autoclockrepair.com. We offer a very reasonable repair solution.

Check engine light comes on when outside temp is

Take it buy Auto Zone when the light is on and get them to check the code for you. I don't know why it would do it while cold and not hot.
