Hi all I own a 2006 RA Rodeo 3.6Ltr petrol dual cab it is a little heavy on fuel that's fine but when you put it into 5 gear it just drinks fuel nearly 1/4 tank to go 15-20 klms. Any ideas greatly app

if manual transmission , no problem
if automatic transmission , torque converter different

that 3.2L was sold here on our Rodeo's too.

that engine in 2002 has EFI right,? some cars outside run carbs up to 2006, so..
i cant look in my books, as our cars are not your cars.

EFI flat shots have vast causes.
but here, are some.

1. bad fuel.
2. TPS bad, if the flat ends as you accelerate this can be it.
3. if the flat spot, continues, low fuel pressure can be it.
4. just needs a tuneup ,ever get on this decade?
5. dirty MAF sensor if it has one. ours has no MAF,(air leaks if do will cause lean, and bogging if MAF system)
6. clogged injectors. or leaking.
7. scan it yet, for DTC errors. that be first.

try new spark plugs yet?//////????? gaped to spec, not guessing?

I may be a little off on models,, but
it should have an in tank fuel pump that cam be removed from the top of the tank, should not have to remove tank on single cabs.
does the fuel pump run for a couple of seconds after you first turn the key on, could be an electrical fault, all wires/connections/fuses in sound condition?

No the whole mirror must be masked and then painted to match.

check immobilizer , or main fuses

This is normal operation for this vehicle. I own one.

check your fuses

"when the fuel pump kicks....it makes a very short duration sound....you can hear it....but in seconds it will be gone......as gasoline has made its way to the engine.........

if you cant hear any noise from the fuel pump......it could be that the fuel pump realy is bad........if you happen to change the relay....and it still does not work.....then it is the fuel pump. that is fried.......

about the water.....i am not shure......unless there was water in the gasoline itself....or somebody put water in there in purpose....
