ENGINE / GEARBOX MAKING UNUSUAL NOISE
SOURCE: 92 Honda Accord LX 2.2
on my 95 accord my d4 light used to flash after driving for for an hour or 2 then the speedo would do strange things.so i changed the speed sensor relay [located on the gearbox] and solved the problem.
SOURCE: Gear Position light D4 is always flashing irrespective of gear.
This issue is caused by a transmission fault or malfunction, most likely a shift solenoid in the trans has failed or the trans control module has a problem, the trans can be tested for codes that will show what circuit or component of the trans controls is causing the light to stay blinking, have it tested.

Larry, you really need to take it to a trasnsmission shop and find out what the trouble codes are, but it seems as though you have a burned up transmission. Thanks and good luck with your repair.

I don't know if this will help but I 'll give you my experience .... I have a 90 accord ex 2.2 l ( love these hondas) and my s light kept flashing .... I bought a book , took it to honda of fife they said i needed a new computer 750 bucks yaeh right....... I did some tweakin under the hood and found a broken transmission solenoid sensor wire and fixed that and noticed my tranny fluid level was a quart over full, so i drained some out.... used an ohm reader and found one faulty temp sensor of 4 or 5 , changed that (the main one for the fans) anyhow I am almost certain all my troubles stemed from the computer getting the over full signal or the faulty tranny solenoid reading..... now everything is top on it .... but before the computer kept me locked out of half of my tranny, ...........

Has anyone change the transmission fluid and used anything other than Honda ATF-Z1. If so, have the fluid/filter changed in this car and use only Honda Fluid. This is the only fluid that you can use in a Honda. Even if you have used the correct fluid an fluid/filter change may help. If that is not the case then I suggest you seek out a trusted professional.
