1996 Taurus GL Idled rough and had engine code of 301,305,351. Replaced the ignition coil pack and seemed to do the trick. 4 months have passed and it started doing it again. Had the coil tested and it passed. After I reinstalled the coil, it ran fine for a while. Then the ame problem came back. Unplugged the wires from the coil and unplugged the power plug and it worked fine again. Has new plugs and wires. What is causing this intermittent misfiring that seems to be cured for a period by unplugging everything and plugging it back in?

SOURCE: 2002 Taurus 24v Duratec getting 301 and 316 codes.

Ok the P0301 code means that your engine is misfiring on the first #1 cylinder so that is good you know where it is coming from. The P0316 Code means that your engine is misfiring in the first 1000 revolutions of the engine starting. What i would suggest you do is change the plug and wire on cylinder #1. If this doesn't solve your problem then you can go to your coil packs and change that. If that still doesn't solve your problem then it may get difficult leading to an injector. But i am almost positive that it is going to be no more then a plug wire or coil pack!

SOURCE: Replaced plugs and coil pack on 2001 ford taurus now car will not start

You will need to figure out if you have spark to the plugs, and if not- if you have voltage to the coil to proceed.

My 1996 Taurus. When I press the gas pedal when cold it sputters, lack of power. Once it heats up it runs fine. code p0305

A code P0305 may mean that one or more of the following has happened: 1 Faulty spark plug or wire 2 Faulty coil (pack)3 Faulty oxygen sensor(s) 4 Faulty fuel injector 5 Burned exhaust valve 6 Faulty catalytic converter.
Possible Solutions If there are no symptoms, the simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back. If there are symptoms such as the engine is stumbling or hesitating, check all wiring and connectors that lead to the cylinders (i.e. spark plugs). Depending on how long the ignition components have been in the car, it may be a good idea to replace them as part of your regular maintenance schedule. I would suggest spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor (if applicable). Otherwise, check the coils (a.k.a. coil packs). In some cases, the catalytic converter has gone bad. If you smell rotten eggs in the exhaust, your cat converter needs to be replaced. I've also heard in other cases the problems were faulty fuel injectors.

Code reader says my 2000 taurus is misfiring in no 6 cylinder i need to know what might be causing it

if it has a ignition coil over each cylinder very common for them to go out. easy change once you get to it only two bolts pops off new one pops on gl if thats your problem. if no coils over cylinders check your coil pack, faulty wire, faulty plug GL

1996 Dodge Neon Will run smooth for a good 15-17 min. then stall like someone shut off the key. New coil, plugs, wiring harness,(mine looked like it got real hot at some point)temp. sensor, air filter,...

The code reads: ignition coil #1 primary circuit. If the coil pack has been replaced, then it is likely the PCM (computer package) is defective and needs to be replaced. That circuit is driven directly by the PCM. This information was taken from a '96 Dodge Caravan service manual (3.3 V6 engine with coil pack ignition system), and should be similar. If your engine uses a distributor instead of a coil pack, then the above code doesn't apply. Even if it does apply, the code implies a 'miss' situation, not complete engine stoppage unless the computer operates the 'automatic shut down relay'??

OBD 2 code showing 300 & 301 cylinder misfire

there are alot of components that can throw those codes.... as a test pull one wire from the coil pack and note if the engine idle changes... replace it and move to the next one... repeat that for all cyclinders.... if you pull one and there are no changes you have likely located the cause.

1996 Ford Taurus GL with no spark I replaced ignition coil kit but it did not fix. Battery is fine and engine cranks over fine. What else can prevent spark if everything seems to have power?

Hello Johnrevival, Did you toss in new spark plugs too? I would suggest the best of champion which are designed specifically for ford engines.
