Charging light still on

01 sentra. same problem. alternator was replaced, still light is on. I'm very good with cars. I've ran every test I can think of. Seems like another bad alternator is the only possibility. Coincidentally it's an autozone alternator. I'm going to replace it with another manufacturer- hopefully that will fix it.

I have found that alot of alternators require replacement of the plug also. You also should always replace the battery when you replace the alternator.

Battery and alternator issues

A battery place can test the battery and the alternator to see which one is faulty

otherwise get a volt meter and check the voltages from the alternator without the battery being connected it will be higher at approximately 13.8 volts and from the battery 12 Volts .

I ve vchanged the battery and alternator on my 94 nissan sentra and the system still wont charge what is the cause

My wife and I have owned three 1994 Sentra cars. One of them went through batteries and alternators like crazy. Last time the 1-year old battery died, I replaced it and went straight to an auto electric shop. The technician found the alternator was putting out about 77 amps the entire time the engine was running (factory alternators are rated for 80 amps, but only when charging nearly-dead batteries). He also found that the harness running to the alternator was hot enough to scald you if you touched it. Miraculously, I found a factory NOS harness on eBay and bought it. Easy to put in, and the car went from a maximum charging voltage of about 13.1 volts, to a MCV of up to 14.1! Haven't replaced a battery or alternator on it since. Hope this helps someone...

I replaced the battery in my 01 volkswagon passat, it ran for a while then the engine slowly die, instrumental lights dim and the car cut off. It started again after a jukp but, continued the same process....

The alternator is shot, The car will run on a new battery for about 20 mins, then it fizzles out. The alternator contains the regulator, You can take it and get it checked, but I'm sure that is the problem, get your battery charged up while you do the alternator, and keep an eye on the charge light. Make sure it is charging, just because it is new doesn't mean it is good. Hope this helps.

I Have a 97 sentra GXE and the electrical system doesnt seem to be working after I replaced the alternator. My headlights and dash lights work but nothing else in the car does..

Did you have the battery tested? Check it for water, voltage, and make sure the terminals are clean. It will run the lights dirty, but won't crank over the engine. You need to get a wire brush on them things and scrape them clean. The alternator might be bad, Just because it is new doesn't mean it is good. Check the battery, then check to see if the alternator is charging the battery, the voltage should go up with it running. Hope this helps.

My 2006 honda odyssey won't start...2 days ago I replaced the battery thinking it was this issue...The van won't click over to start...the VSA and ABS light comes on faintly..could it be an alternator?

it sounds like that, if after installing the battery, it ran and started good, then this tells me it run until it drained the battery, so this tells me theres a charging problem, make sure the belt is on and then take a good look at the alternator and battery connections, then check the alternator output to see if its charging, it should put out 13.5 to 14.5 volts with engine running, if it doesnt then replace battery, you can also check for power at the alternator and other tests but i dont want to confuse you, a good thing to do is when removed just to double check have the parts store test it for you, it sounds like a bad alternator, hope this is helpful, good luck.

2000 nisaan sentra, battery light and brake light pops on periodically, took it to dealership, they said all the reading was good on the battery and alternator, they just to change the battery cables did...

its a bad alternator, a bad diode, replace the alternator this will solve your problem, when these alternators go bad the dash lights come on,it sounds like it sometimes charges and other times not,the car was charging when they got it so they really couldnt find much, ive run into this alot, check the connection at the alternator and battery if connections are good then replace the alternator, good luck.

97 nissan sentra with brake and battery light staying lit after changing battery. when it goes into passing gear light goes off then comes back on

These lights will come on if your alternator isn't charging fully. With a multi meter test your voltage at the battery with the engine running. The voltage should be above 14 volts. If it is below 14 you will need to replace the alternator.
