Slide the seat back as far as it will go then release the lever on the side and it will flip up, fold and lay flat to gain acces into rear seats!
That much I know. It gets the bucket seat to fold down, but what do I do to get the rear of the seat to unlatch so that I can fold it up towards the front seat?
If it is folding down then it is all linked and should all collapse and lift up against the front seat! If you are getting part of that then the linked catch is probably broken!
I finally went to the Kia dealership and even they had problems getting it to work. They finally got it working though. Thanks SO much for your help.
Well done! Was it just stuck through lack of use and needed lubricating?
It ended up that in orDer for it to unlatch, the seat first had to recline all the way back first, Then pull the latch on the side. Worked wonders after that. Had a good laugh with the guys at the dealership too.
When you said recline the seat all the way back first! Do you mean slide the whole seat as far back on the runners as possible before releasing the catch?
No. The bucket seats had to "lay back" all the way... like in a reclined position, to release the latch. Then all I had to do was pull the lever on the side and up it all went. To bad I can't put a video on here. That would explain it totally.

There is a latch located behind the head rest on the rear deck area of the car. Good Luck

THE SEAT RELEASES ARE IN THE TRUNK IN THE AREA WHERE THE SPEAKERS ARE NEAR THE EDGE OF THE TRUNK OPENING.

I have had this problem, and I am having it again. The problem is if a little trash gets under the bar in the floor, it will keep the mechanism from locking completely. I had tried everything. The only solution so far is the rock back and forth. Real pain. I am trying to find a secret release.
SOURCE: We cannot remove 2nd seat in our 02 Kia Sedona. We
move seat completely back.take off head restraint, tip backrest forward flat to seat, then, grab the pull cord and pull backward so that seat tips forward then grab bars on front of underseat and squeeze together and lift.be careful these seats ARE HEAVY.

Got it, with the help and eyes of my wife. The rear latch releases as the seat back is lowered. This release is ALMOST seat back down (about 3 inches above the seat bottom). As the seat back lowers, apply constant lift on the rear latch, and it will release as the seat back lowers. Hard-won knowledge - I think I invented some bad words in the process.
