Where is the engine vin number , one for engine, not auto, on new Chevy factory 503 engine just installed in my 2000 Silverado truck.

no ENGINE TOLD AT ALL, SOME NEED HIGHER TORQUE TRANNY
THIS CAR HAS RPO , LIST BASED ON VIN AND TELLS THE 3 DIGIT COLD FOR TRANNY , ALL GM DEALER CAN LOOK UP THAT CODE

must fit and not make the TCM angry.
ask chevy maker for the fits list
or ask any transmission repair shops for the list.

a transmission, has many options by class series number.
even different RATIO'S AND LENGTH, MOUNTS AND TCM CONNECTIONS FUNCTIONS.
EXAMPLES ,NOT SAYING IT IS YOURS, ONLY CAN BE.
SERIES 4L60E (JUST A SERIES ok , UNDER STAND ?)
M30 : TRANSMISSION, AUTO 4 SPD, HMD, 4L60E, ELECTRONIC

You can ID the engine from the cars VIN chassis number

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. If you have no luck finding it on the internet, you can call the dealership to get it. You will need your VIN number to do so. Some dealerships require you to see them personally. They can get you your code though. There are so many different codes for these vehicles. if this is a factory radio, then you can go to dealership, to get unlock code for your radio. i think you may need the vin number.

Call any chevy dealer and give them your vin. number and they will tell you.

have vehicle scanned for trouble code some auto stores such as auto zone /advanced auto do it for free the code will give u a start point

got a clutch pedal in there? If auto, it could be a 700r4 or some variation of that. You can likely get exact info from a dealer if you give them the vin #.

I have a 2000 GMC that does that also, only mine wont slow down unless i turn it off and retsart, only does it when engine is really warm.

if it is the fuel level sending unit you will have to replace the pump because they are a 1 piece assambly. it will be a task to change too as you will need to either remove the truck bed or drop the fuel tank to get to it.

well are you getting anything give me a starting place
