When I try t accelerate to pass or go uphill the rpms increase but the vehicle does not accelerate. Tranny fluid is full.

Vehicle has new engine.. 2500 miles.. new starter..fuel pump..battery.. water pump.. plugs..wires..coil..1 new injector. Does not overheat. Will run and drive as long as I go easy on the gas. But will not accelerate rapidly or uphill.

First, Take it to a transmission specialty shop ASAP!! I hate to break it to you and maybe this is not the case for you, but I had the same thing happen to me and I need a new transmission. It used to run like a charm, always responded quickly no transmission issues and one day trying to pass someone the RPM's rose, but no power and I couldn't pass them. It happened very infrequently, but slowly over months it happened more and more. Now, I need a new transmission. My truck runs around town fine, but if I try to go on the highway or speeed up quickly, nothing...no power just higher RPMs.

Sounds like either a bad transmission pump or torque converter. Have the vehicle evaluated by a transmission shop.

I have a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. When the accelerator is depressed hard (passing or going uphill) the vehicle downshifts into too low of a gear. The nose will dip down and it will rev high.

this is normal for the trans to downshift as the engine and trans are working together to handle the acceleration of your car and as your car's speed increases the trans will adjust again (EG: shift gears) this is more of a weight to acceleration sort of thing or rather weight to power sort of thing

Hi Erica:
Time to play automotive detective...........
Does it happen when"
- the vehicle is stopped and the engine is running?
- the vehicle is moving with the engine running?
- the vehicle is moving and the brakes are applied?
- the vehicle is accelerating under load (uphill)?
Is the noise constant
intermittent
only happens going over bumps

2001 Toyota Camry. Loud rumble on start/warm-up, slightly decreasing after some drive time. Engine seems strained (with louder rumble and vibration) mostly in lower gears, accelerating and/or uphill. No...

Have you checked your oil and fluid levels in the engine and transmisson.
if it's a manual could the clutch be worn out causing the high rpm and thrust bearing noise in the clutch.

1993 Chevy Cavalier 2.2l engine auto trans. While driving up hills, sounds like torque convertor is locking/unlocking too often. Condition is only noticed as a slight increase/decrease of engine rpm...

try unplugging the torque lock solenoid on the front of the transmission, the RPMs will be a little higher and you will lose a little bit of fuel mileage but it should solve the issue until you can get the solenoid replaced

2005 Kia Optima overheating during driving. Mostly when accelerating or going uphill. Fluid and coolant seem to be fine. Radiator fluid looks to be circulating to the thermostat when engine is at normal...

When the radiator fans stop functioning properly, the engine temperature will rise as there will be insufficient airflow to cool the radiator. The spike in temperature will be the highest when the vehicle is idling at a stop light or just stopped, but should subside once the vehicle begins moving again.
get the fan cked out.

Transmission just spins when pushing on accelerator.

automatic or manual transmission?

can you clarify further what you mean by the trans spinning?

may you mean that the engine rpm's raise as you press the accelerator and yet the vehicle does not move?
