Pull the fuse and put it back in, first. Then pull the plug on the back of the IP and put it back in. It is intermittent. These will usually fix the problem... Corrosion.

A problem like this can be caused by a variety of problems. A good place to start is to check your fuses, and ground wires. Beyond that, it's a matter of checking the wiring harness that supplies power to the dash for loose or broken wires, or even possibly an issue with the instrument panel voltage regulator.

Pull the instrument cluster out of the dash check all the connectors to it for loose pins and also take a look at the printed circuit on the back of the panel, look for any obvious problems. More than likely just pulling the connectors and reinserting them several times may cure this problem.

I have a 2004 Chevy impala the check engine light came on and the car is revving high and putters what would cause this?

I had the same problem. Abs light would come on and I would lose all dash instruments. Hit a bump on the road and abs light would go off and dash would come back on. What I did to fix problem, lol I slaped the dash just to the right of instrument panel and it all came back to life. There seems to be a short there, and I slaped it back 3 times in a week and now for the last month it has stayed on.
