I have had trouble starting my Chevy blazer 2001, before it would feel like the ignition would get stuck, now the key won't turn either way and the steering wheel is locked and I can't turn it on

Try turning the steering wheel hard in each direction while trying to turn key. Wheel lock may be holding key. If not, sounds like you need to replace ignition lock cylinder or the ignition switch. Good luck, DW

My igntion is lock on my 2010 hyundai sonta and i have tried both keys

Are you able to turn the steering wheel any? It may only turn a little, but that should be enough. Try turning the steering wheel to the left and holding it there tightly while turning your ignition key. If it doesn't work, try turning the steering wheel to the right and holding it there tightly while turning the ignition key. If that doesn't work, try wiggling the steering wheel by turning it back and forth while trying to turn the ignition key. If it still doesn't allow the key to turn, try activating the shift lock release and shifting the car into neutral. Do this by prying open the small square plastic cover next to the shift lever. With the cover removed, apply the brake with your foot and insert a small screwdriver or bic pen into the hole. Push down and move the shift lever to neutral while holding the shift release down. Remove the pen/screwdriver and replace cover. Now try turning the ignition switch. That should work, but if it doesn't let me know and we'll go from there. a48afaae-b675-4190-9e1b-0a8be3ea56d9.png

I can't start my Toyota corolla because of what the manual calls type a security. The red security light nearest to the door is flashing and the steering wheel won't turn. I remember when I first ent

Problems with the anti-theft systems using the raised-chip key can prevent the car from starting. The wires in the steering column to the ignition lock cylinder tend to break. The the key and ignition lock cylinder must be replaced to correct this condition, needless to say, the key too.
TIP: Try Cleaning the key with petrol/kerosene & try once. It might work if ignition lock is still OK

Steering wheel locked, cannot turn key to start, jiggling steering wheel not effective. turned battery on and off, inserted wd40, nothing works. help!!!

Try holding your steering wheel hard to the left as you try to turn the key. If this doesnt work try holding it to the right doing the same thing. Something happened to where the steering wheel lock engaged and that will prevent you from using the ignition key. Try this

Key is locked in the ignition

To fix your problem, you have to turn the steering wheel either to the left or right as much as you can, then try to turn the key in the ignition. When the steering wheel locks, the key won't turn. By manually holding the steering wheel out of the lock position, the key will turn again and you're steering column will be back to normal. Also try holding the brake pedal down and turning the key and steering wheel at the same time

Key wont turn and steering wheel locked

Are the wheels turned all the way left or right?
If so: insert the key in the ignition. and pull down hard on the steering going in-the-same-direction that they are already turned. Turn the ignition ket at the same time.
If not: then you will need to take the steering column covers off and check on this mechanism which locks the wheel and the cylinder when the wheels are turned this way. it is located up adjacent the ignition key cylinder. There is a spring and a plastic mold piece inside this mechanism which may have failed.
Another possibilty is: Does your vehicle have a Security System? Is the key you are using a Security Key?

I need to replace an ignition switch on my 1999 Chrysler Sebring convertible, how do I remove the dashboard

This is for the ignition switch like you are asking for:

Ignition Switch REMOVAL & INSTALLATION Cirrus, Stratus, Sebring Convertible and Breeze CAUTION
The Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system must be disarmed before working around the steering column. Failure to do so may cause accidental deployment of the air bags, resulting in unnecessary SIR system repairs and/or personal injury.
  1. Disarm the air bag system, as described in Section 6.
  2. Remove the left end instrument panel cover/fuse panel and remove the retaining screw holding the end of the instrument panel top cover.
  3. Remove the instrument panel center bezel.
  4. Remove the screws that secure the instrument panel top cover to the center of the instrument panel.
  5. Lift the instrument panel top cover enough to gain access to the knee bolster attaching screws.
  6. Remove the lower knee bolster attaching screws and knee bolster from the vehicle.
  7. Remove the lower steering column cover attaching screws. Pull down on the lower cover to clear the ignition key cylinder and key release (if equipped).
  8. Remove the lower steering column cover, sliding the cover forward while holding down the steering wheel tilt lever.
  9. Tilt the steering wheel down to the fully lowered position and remove the upper steering column cover.
  10. Remove the screws that hold the combination switch to the ignition lock housing.
  11. Place the ignition lock cylinder in the RUN position.
  12. Insert a small prying tool into the hole in the lower cover and depress the cylinder release tab.
  13. Remove the ignition lock cylinder from the steering column.
  14. Unfasten the electrical connectors from the switch.
  15. Using a No. 10 Torx® bit, remove the ignition switch mounting screw.
  16. Depress the retaining tabs and remove the switch. To install:
  17. Place the ignition switch in the RUN position. Be sure the actuator shaft in the lock housing is also in the RUN position.
  18. Install the switch, making sure the switch snaps over the retaining tabs.
  19. Install the retaining screw.
  20. Connect the wiring to the ignition switch.
  21. Install the ignition lock cylinder.
  22. Install the 2 combination switch mounting screws.
  23. Install the lower and upper shrouds.
  24. Install the knee bolster to the lower dashboard panel and tighten the lower knee bolster attaching screws.
  25. Install the screws that secure the instrument panel top cover to the center of the instrument panel.
  26. Install the instrument panel center bezel.
  27. Install and tighten the screw holding the end of the instrument panel top cover. Install the left side instrument panel/fuse panel cover.
