Had to slam on my breaks on my 1999 Ford Explorer to avoid a deer, now it will not start.

Inertia/impact switch is a button reset sensor under the right dash. Check owner manual to reset/locate. Big red button

This car has an inertia switch that shuts off the fuel pump in an accident. I would bet that it tripped.

It sounds like the engine "jumped" off timing. listen to the engine while cranking, if timing is off or chain is broken you maybe able to hear a different noise. like hollow for example. best luck to you!
