P1490 means Low Speed Fan Relay Circuit Conditions

My 2001 pt cruiser limited edition is starting to hest up after driving the vehicle for about 45 minutes it goes down to normal if I turn on the heater. On the diagnostic it says code p1489 and p1490....

You could try the relays first, they are way cheaper. But probably the fans..

the code 1490 is for the low speed fan. does it over heat. the other code is for battery being disconnected. has the battery be disconnected if it has not check the battery post to see if they are tight

Dtc code p1490 fan olny comes on when air conditioner is on

P1490 Low Speed Fan CTRL Relay Circuit. You need to check and make sure the cooling fan is coming on when the engine reaches operating temperature and when you turn the A/C on. If not, replace the Low Speed Fan relay.

I have a Haynes manual and it says that code P1490 identication is Vacuum Cut Valve Bypass Valve fault (California). I hope this helps.
