What are the problems of a faulty transmission speed sensor in a 2002 land rover discovery 2 v gas?

run the fault codes and look for a faulty torque converter clutch solenoid /servo and a problem TCM unit. A service if not done in the last 60.000 miles would also help.

Google "Land Rover Rave pdf" - download it (FREE) open it and find your vehicle. It can be a little tedious to maneuver but it's priceless for fixin' Rovers. (I have a 2002 Disco)

2002 disco II hard to start if it sits 15minutes. It takes 3 or 4 cranks to get started. Once started it runs great and there are no fault codes.

Take it to the dealer.. Theses guys are jokes on this website and could not solve a starting problem if the car just needed gas as a fix. What a joke...

Purchased a 2002 Land Rover from a local Auction with 72k. The car was sandwiched between 2 cars and the damage was minimal. The SUV starts right up but could only go in reverse. The truck will move on...

I'm guessing that the gearbox speed sensor was damaged in the shunt, this can happen if the gearbox was in park when it happened - causes internal damage to quite a lot of components. The speed sensor tells the gearbox the speed of the input shaft and the transmission control computer then signals the gearbox to change gear accordingly. If this is damaged it could account for the symptoms. Suggest taking to a LR dealer for diagnosis, they should pick up any sensor faults with their plug in diagnosis tools. Whilst it will cost a bit, it will save you a lot of component changing and there are a lot of components to change on a Disco!

Where is the cruise control module located on the disco 2

On the TD5 it's built into the ECU, on the V8 it's behind the drivers side kick panel.
