try removing the headlight switch if u can to see the problem before taking it to BMW/ if u can take it out u could certainly put it back and replace it with a new one if its damaged or completely stuck up and beyond repair/ BMW will surely hit u a lot by just changing the switch
It sounds like the dreaded LKM light control module. It fails leaving only 1 light on with all lights off and ignition off.Try www.bba-reman.com they have a list of common faults for BMW.

pretty quick. but be sure it the alternator. You can test it by starting the car then unplugging the battery. If it cuts off when you unplug it it's the alternator if it keeps running it's not the problem
