Help someone! My check engine light and vsc trac lights have been on for a while, with no problems. But. The beake lights and ABS light came on, with a steady warning sound and a loss of brake power. Changed the front pads, it stopped for a while, but came on the problem returned after an hour.

Check your brake fluid level, you might be low or out. If you're out, you're probably going to have to bleed the braking system due to air in the lines. Neither of the options are safe so I wouldn't recommend driving. If you need to take it somewhere I would tow it. Brakes aren't the only thing that helps stop cars :)

Check your switches for the VSC, some get bumped on (due to their location) and some get stuck in the "on"position.

SOURCE: ABS PROBLEM

Look up above your brake pedal and you should see a switch that is connected to it. This switch controls your brakes and in some vehicles, is tied in to the safety system. Change this and see if your van goes into gear ($10 part)

I have a 2001 Sequoia replaced connectors to battery. Now E brake light ABS light Trac Off and VSC Trac light are on. I disconnected ground and let it sit. Had code ran and it said open closed circuit abs?...

More than likley its your VSC computer (VSC Trac, VSC Off, E brake and ABS brake lights all lit). This problem has been sited on other Sequoias that had the TSB brake caliper/rotor upgrade (recall) and that more than likely the VSC software or computer was not updated to meet the demands of the newly installed brake upgrade.

Check engine light and vsc trac off lights stay on. Cannot turn svc off by pressing button on Dash

Hi, have you scanned the vehicle to see why your check engine light is on? IF no, you need to. Toyota/Lexus computer system illumniates both engine light and VSC lights whenver a fault occurs in either unit. VSC or stability control is like trac-control or ABS braking system. Get car scanned and make sure all computers are scanned for additional codes, repair them first reset lights and test drive. ON a side note, fixing check engine light will usually take VSC light away also, however sometimes the VSC system will glitch out and a Steering Angle relearn is necessary, it takes about 3mins to perform and a good quality scan tool with 2004 current software. Good Luck.

On my 2003 forerunner the check engine light came on along with the VSC TRAC and TRAC OFF lights. What does it mean?

The abs/vsc/trac and check engine lights stay on. could this be a problem associated with emission control?

Its possible.

Whenever the check engine light comes on the VSC and Traction control will disable because they need the engine at 100% in order to function correctly. Since the ABS light is on I would have to wonder if it isn't an abs problem. Since the VSC and Traction control use the ABS sensors/system to function.

Or there is a problem with both the engine and the ABS.

The only way to know for sure is to have the PCM scanned and the ABS module to see what is goind on.

The vsc trac and vsc off, plus the check engine just came up on the dash board. What do I do to make them disappear? Its a toyoto 4runner 2004.

For some reason on Toyota and some Lexus vehicles certain check engine light CEL issues also result in the ECU lighting up the vsc trac and vsc off lights. The ECU actually switches these anti skid and anti lock brake systems off and the lights are to remind you that they are disabled. 1) Check that the fuel cap is on securely 2) Check the oxygen sensors on the exhaust, check that connections are clean and there are no missing wires. 3) Have someone check the on-board diagnostic codes if the CEL is still on

My vsc trac warning light and check engine light went on

Please, make your mechanic check the ABS computer. My RAV4 did the same thing, but the mechanical components were alright. After a while, I almost fell off a cliff because my brakes stopped responding properly. When further checked, my mechanic discovered that the ABS computer was damaged. The part alone costs a whooping $3 thousand bucks, not including labor. So, beware and take precautions. Your life may be endangered.

Vsc & trac off indicators

Have you scanned both the engine computer and the abs computer? Because it is an abs problem, likely a wheel speed sensor.
