Check with a IR temperature meter the temperature of the top hose close to the engine, this should be around 90deg C if the the temp gauge on the dash is in the middle. if this is the case, the gauge sender int engine block might be faulty of the gauge in the dash might even be faulty.
The usual suspects are:
stuck shut thermostat
clogged raiator
dead water pump
low coolant level
it's sunday, rovers don't work on sunday.
Then again, maybe its wednesday, rovers take half a day then.
