if you get fuel and and a spark then its not getting any air ... try taking the filter off the carb and run it filter off i dont see whats wrong past air ot timing or the timing belt has slipped i think a saab uses and belt and not a chain time to let someone analyze it with the plug in to the ecu method more modern cars engage limp mode and this condition needs reset when its serviced

First you must check what the engine don t has...spark!? So if you replaced the cassette, you must check fuses and so on. If you don t see fuel pressure and you replaced the pump...fuses, control for the relay and power to the relay. Check injector pulse, engine compression is OK? Engine light is on with ignition on?! If not, check some others engine sensors have power...if not you must test ECM!?

Did you check for voltage at the coil pack low tension input
this comes from the electronic ignition and the distributer dc setting on a multimeter

check inside the distributer that the little magnet is still in place on the rotor and that the sensor is outputing pulses as it turns over
{you can use a meter set to AC range for this ...}
pull a plug out and place its metal to ground check for actual sparks
if this is there then its fuel ...

1996 Dodge Stratus 2.4 4cyl., no start, no spark or injector pulse.

There are a few possible causes for a 1996 Dodge Stratus 2.4 4cyl. engine not starting and experiencing a lack of spark or injector pulse:
  1. Faulty ignition switch: The ignition switch is responsible for activating the electrical system when the key is turned to the "on" position. If the ignition switch is faulty, it could prevent the engine from starting.
  2. Failed crankshaft position sensor: The crankshaft position sensor is responsible for sending a signal to the engine control module (ECM) indicating the position of the crankshaft. If the sensor is faulty, it could prevent the engine from starting.
  3. Failed engine control module (ECM): The ECM is responsible for controlling the engine's ignition and fuel systems. If the ECM is faulty, it could prevent the engine from starting.
  4. Failed fuel pump: If the fuel pump is not functioning properly, it may not be able to deliver fuel to the engine, causing it to not start.
To diagnose the problem, you could try checking the ignition switch, crankshaft position sensor, and ECM for any visible problems or faults. You could also try checking the fuel pump and fuel pressure to ensure that fuel is being delivered to the engine. If these steps do not resolve the issue, it may be necessary to call a professional for further assistance.

A lot of things have been replaced ... but there was no mention of checking any fuses or relays.
As an example ... if the fuel pump relay is bad then the car will crank over but not start

You require a code reader to pinpoint fault code. They are not expensive and easily obtainable, (E-Bay).Check wiring plug to coil pack connection first.

No Spark

Is the PCM controlling the coil's ? You have B+ voltage at the dark green with orange trace wire at the coil pack ? The other two wire's go to the PCM - the PCM has transistor's that supply a ground to those two wire's when signal from crank sensor is seen . Opens an closes to build up voltage an to release a spark . You can test this control with a test light . Video's on youtube.

No Spark

The relay for the fuel pump is working but have you checked that the pump is actually pressurising the system . Next you have power at the coil but is it getting to the spark plugs from the distributor.

My 1998 Buick Regal GS will not start. The battery is only one year old and the starter is turning. The wiring for the spark plugs was replaced 2 years ago. Is this a fuel pump problem? If so I would like...

If the motor is turning over, then the battery is good. You are either not getting spark or fuel.
If not spark, the crankshaft position sensor is usually faulty.
If no fuel, either fuel pump or fuel pump relay is bad, or clogged fuel filter, or fuel pressure regulator is faulty. You have a fuel rail that has your injectors attached to it. It should have a test port on it that looks like a tire valve. You can put a rag on top of it,, press it in and there should be lots of fuel pressure, If not, either filter is clogged or pump is not running either due to bad fuse or relay or pump is bad.
For spark, there is a crankshaft position sensor that screws in engine block next to the crank. Then from here the wires go to ignition module and coil packs, then to plugs and wires. You can test any relay or sensor with an ohmmeter in the ohm position. You can test any power in an electrical unit with a voltmeter

Engine misses, then shut off, won't start again

not sure about the 2008 model, but the earlier ones had coil pack problems. it looks like part of the rocker cover with around four torque screws holding it down and one multi plug at the end on the n/s of the engine. oh they used to blow the fuse at the same time for the engine management. 30amp dooor pillar/"A"post area. test by removing the coil pack, fitting the spark plugs into the plug outlets. earth the body of each plug and crank the engine, you shoukld see a spark, if not then there are other tests before confirming the coil pack. let me know how you get on.

Saab 95 1998 - wont start

The most common problem is the Direct ignition cassette, followed by the crankshaft position sensor. I am assuming that it cranks, but won't start.
