I have a 2005 gmc envoy. Recently had the transmission rebuilt. Now my gas mileage is horrible and the cruise control will switch off randomly while engaged and driving. Any ideas?

SOURCE: 2005 GMC Envoy Locked in 4WD all the time

If your luck it's going to be a $15.00 vacuum switch on the transfer case that takes about 15 min to replace, if it's the electronic solenoid to the transfer case then it's going to be cost a little more and take a little longer. If your try switching from 4WD to 2WD and hear the solenoid working by hearing the cluck's when it engages and disengage then it's going to be the vacuum switch on top of the transfer case on the drivers side. Auto Zone Sell's them for $15.00 and they will have the step by step instructions to replacing the switch. They will also have the transfer case solenoid  too, if you don't hear the solenoid. Check the fuses, the fuse may have gone bad. Good luck and hope this helps.

Well the first mistake you did was not take it to your GMC car dealer and let them check it out. It could be a computer problem inside the dash somewhere. Hope this helps!?

Please rate solution - Thanks.

Does it engage and then quit immediately? Or does it stay on for a while? Please give me some more details so I can properly diagnose the problem. Thanks!

Where is the vacuum hose on a 2005 gmc envoy

There are several. They go to the transmission, the idle control valve, the fuel cannister, cruise control fuel pressure regulator and inside to the heater/ ac controls There is a place on the intake manifold where a vacuum hose will connect to that distributes vacuum to all the other places vacuum is needed.

Envoy 2005 XL Cruise control not working

Your dealership should have seen any underlying codes. Most Cruise controls I've worked on are used on the vehicles vacuum. that is where i would start, because on a grade your engine uses more vacuum pressure thus taking from some where else.

My 2005 envoy stalls when i run the heater and a/c

It will tend to stall when you have the A/C on and or the defrost, not the heater correct? The defrost uses the A/C to dry the air. The battery was probably disconnected or changed recently. Clean your throttle body with throttle body cleaner while the battery is disconnected. When finished, drive around for 5 miles or so with the A/C and Defroster off. Your computer will relearn the the newly cleaned throttle body. This will fix this very common problem. Will cost you about 7 bucks for the cleaner and you're gas mileage will be better.

I have a 2002 GMC Envoy and the cruise control not working now. Worked before

Most times when this happens with Envoys and Trailblazers, your PCM or computer is storing a check engine code, which will disable cruise control. Scan your vehicle with an OBDII scanner to see what code may be stored. Once the code is cleared, your cruise control will work again.

I want to install cruise control on my 2005 gmc sierra 4x4,whats involed?

Hi,

Most of the time cruise controls are one of the easier accessories to install into a vehicle. Most only take approx 45 minutes to install. Some may take longer. Vehicles with manual transmissions may add another 10 minutes to the job on average. There are usually only six electrical connections and only two mechanical connections to make when installing a cruise control into a gasoline (not diesel) powered vehicle with an automatic transmission as well as mounting the control arm and servo.

Cheers,
Kanu
