No, but the calibration numbers on the ecm must match. In 1998 dodge still used a prom, that you need to take out of old unit and put in new unit

1998 Dodge Ram 360 swap from an automatic to a manual truck

Swapping the transmission in a vehicle can be a complex and time-consuming task, especially if you are changing from an automatic to a manual transmission. Here are a few things to consider when performing this swap on a 1998 Dodge Ram with a 360 engine:
  1. Make sure you have all the necessary parts and tools for the swap, including a manual transmission, a flywheel, a clutch, a pedal assembly, and any other components that may be required.
  2. Follow a reliable repair manual or instructional guide for step-by-step instructions on how to complete the swap. It is important to follow the procedures carefully to ensure that the swap is done safely and correctly.
  3. Have a professional mechanic check and adjust the transmission linkage, drivetrain, and other components after the swap to ensure that everything is functioning properly.
  4. Consider updating the engine control module (ECM) or other related components to ensure that they are compatible with the manual transmission.

1999 Dodge Ram 1500 318 engine no spark no signal to coil i changed cam positioner sensor and crank positioner sensor still no spark could it be a bad wire (ground)somewere

Check the ASD relay in the fuse box. Swap it with the starting relay. If the engine fails to roll over. Thats your problem. If not, check and see if your fuel injector connectors have voltage to them if not its a bad PCM. Hope this helps.

01 dodge ram diesel with faults p0252 p0253 p1693

All three of those refer to the ecm. 98 to 02 cummins have a vp44 inj pump with the ecm built inside. These are known to have problems, specifically due to poor lift pump pressure. The pump usually does not give any warnings they just quite. HOPE THIS HELPS

high voltage is an indication something is not plugged in or plugged in wrong. You will need to test the harness to see if the required voltage supply is present, connector unplugged, if not then your going to have to determine if the siganl comes from the PCM or the fuse block. If its the PCM you may have a bad PCM. Same thing for the ground side. Now if the reference signal and ground are good you could have a sensor issue but I doubt this because you have high voltage on three components. This tells me that three component signals are not getting back to the PCM. This is why it sets the codes. With all the work you just did I suspect you didnt but the wiring back the way it was. Sometimes people take the ground wire off between the engine and and body because its in the way and don't reinstall it. Or don't tighten it enough. With todays electronics there simple mistakes cause unforeseen issues.

Error codes

P0523 means the Oil pressure voltage to high. Your Oil pressure sensor may need to be replaced. P1682 means your charging system is to low. Your voltage regulator may be going bad or the whole alternator. p1693 means a Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) has been detected in the ECM or PCM which is related to the above DTC P0XXX codes. Good luck and hope this helps. Keep me posted, be glad to help
