I think you hit status button and the information will illuminate and run thru each item. The message center will prompt to hit reset if new. Hit and hold reset of each of the item that needs attention. I will try it on my 01 and reply if anything is different. Good luck.

My Lincoln does NOT have the 4buttons on dash above radio, thats the confusing part.

  • ctkelly444 Nov 28, 2014

Just ran thru the procedure and the info I supplied is correct. Gotta see your dash as I have never heard of that. No button...weird.

SOURCE: How do you change oil on a 2001 chevy impala

the sump bung is usually mounted at the lowest point on the engine, on the sump, generally on the bottom os or one of the sides, the best way to see where your oil filter is, is to buy a new one then look under the vehicle.

The one charging port is at the front of the engine compartment, look around the top right side of the radiator. The other one is at the back of the AC compressor, and can be found from underneath by removing the small splash shield in the front of the drivers side wheelwell.

SOURCE: reset message center window

THIS SHOULD HELP YOU

Turn the ignition to ON without starting the engine. Fully press and release the accelerator pedal three times within five seconds. If the CHG OIL SOON light flashes two times, the system is resetting. Turn the key to OFF, then start the vehicle. If the CHG OIL SOON light comes back on, the system has not reset, repeat the procedure. Follow this procedure to reset the GM Oil Life System using the DE 100 Series Radio®. Turn the ignition to ACC or ON and the radio off. Press and hold the DISP button on the radio for at least five seconds until SETTINGS is displayed. Press the SEEK up or down arrow to scroll through the main menu. Scroll until OIL LIFE appears on the display. Press the PREV or NEXT button to enter the submenu. RESET will be displayed. Press the DISP button to reset. A chime will be heard to verify the new setting and DONE will be displayed for one second. Once the message has been reset, scroll until EXIT appears on the display. Press the DISP button to exit programming. A chime will be heard to verify the exit.

I have a 2001 LS Lincoln. No owners manual. The dash has a couple of codes on an led type screen for "change AC filter" and "change oil" messages. I did the work but the messages still...

Look for the Information Center panel above the Audio controls.. There should be 4 buttons labeled Fuel, Setup, Reset, and Status. With the engine running, press the Status button until the change oil required message appears, then press and hold the reset button until the message appears that says oil life restored to 100%. Do the same for the a/c filter.
