Check wiring under/behind the switch chances are it is a "dead short" which is keeping your light on. Look for bare wire(s). Peace. God bless

SOURCE: 2000 toyota land cruiser door power lock

This is normal if I'm reading this right. The door locks are supposed to pop up when you turn off the key when in "child proof" mode. The reading lamp is wired to prevent low battery conditions by only operating when the engine is running. Did you just get the car?

SOURCE: differetial locks for 94 land cruiser

91-97 Land Cruisers had a factory option for front and rear locking differentials. This is a seperate switch and is usually located to the left of US model Land Cruisers. The center dash button locks your transfer case differential changing your Land Cruiser from all wheel drive to four wheel drive depending if you have ABS or not this button either says ECT or Center Dif Lock. If you do not have the Front/Rear locking differential option then your Land Cruiser has open Front and Rear. Hope this answers your question.

Yes!! probably the front diff actuator is sticking , the wire that command the disengagement is not making contact properly, or the actuator itself is bad, also if you replace the tires with a size different from the manufactures that can create an engagement problem.

SOURCE: swapping out radio from salvaged

Is the salvaged radio EXACTLY the same as the original radio? Are you sure everything is plugged in correctly? If the radio is not EXACTLY the same. the circuits could be different and the wiring harnesses may not provide power at the correct pins on the radio. Also, do you have the security code for the salvaged vehicle? The code for your radio will not work in the salvaged vehicle radio.
Also check to be sure that you did not cause the fuses to blow when disconnecting/connecting radio components. If you attempted this job without first disconnecting the battery cable, there is a very good likelyhood that this has occured. Damage to the salvaged radio could also have occured if the salvage vehicle battery was not disconnected during removal of the salvaged radio.

I think these actuators depend on vaccuum, check that all the hoses are in place and intact, could also be the vaccuum pump.

1992 Land cruiser will not shift into drive

Does it have manual locking front hubs? Some people fit these to full time four wheel drive vehicles to reduce driveline effort and increase fuel efficiency. The issue is that the drive from the transfer case will find the path of least resistance which if the front hubs are not locked power will be sent through the front diff and only spin the front drive shafts. To ensure drive power is sent to the rear diff the centre diff needs to be locked. If you do have manual locking front hubs try putting them in the locked position and leave the centre diff button off and try going for a drive.

Driving a vehicle with diff lock on hard surfaces will damage the drivetrain. Try to avoid this. If your center diff is locked, be sure to press the button on the dashboard (Center diff) to the off(button out) position. (Yes, you didnt press the button, but your model automatically engages diff lock in 4lo) So dont engage 4lo on hard surfaces.
Try reversing a couple feet. This may free up the diff so that the lock can disengage. If this does not work, find a large patch of grass or gravel. Turn the steering to full lock(left or right, doesnt matter) and pull off. This should disengage the lock. It is good practice to engage the difflock at least once a month as this will keep the lockers lubricated enough so that they dont bind like yours have done.

Where does diff lock display come on dash or button

diff lock displays on dash and is opperated by a dial to the left of the steering column. the center diff lock is operated by a button in the center dash and locks your center differential, making your front and rear driveshafts turn at the same speed. the front and rear differentials lock either your front or rear or both differentials making each wheel on the same axle turn at the same speed. all of these features are for increased traction in off road and wet conditions and situations

Ringing sound on a Toyota Land Cruiser SX 2L Turbo 1991 Model

noise producers on vehicles include the worn brake pad indicator that rubs on the disc when the pads are dangerously low , loose seal shields on the diff pinions , tail shaft noise from failing bearings , "U" joints , center bearing supports and shields for that bearing touching the support bracket from failed bearing rubber mount
if is only heard when moving ,what I am suggesting that everything that turns has to be carefully inspected
for example a bit of rock stuck between the diff flange seal shield and the diff housing will create a noise that is amplified by the tail shaft
