My 2005 GMC Envoy is shaking a lot and it smells like something is burning like burnt plastic.. it turned off on me while driving and when I turned it on and continued driving it started shaking and smelling like that, check engine light has always been on it never turned off it's been on since I bought it.. what can it be??
STOP USING IT NOW
You need to educate yourself--study OBD 2
Vehicle Systems
We have had check lights for 35 years,no reason
to not know about them or what to do
You do not use any vehicle with a check light or
any dash lights on,they are telling you the vehicle
has system faults, that need to be diagnosed & find
a problem to repair
It shakes,it smells-- but you keep using it,will get
very expensive, if you don't change your ways, when
it comes to motor vehicles
Get it to a dealer or the best local shop you can find
The BEST Shop-- not some highway chain store-- where
you sit for 5 hours & they do little

That code represents a lower than expected reading for temperature (coolant). First thing to do is check your coolant level, as if it is low, then the sensor can not read correctly. Second, you may have a thermostat that is stuck open, allowing the coolant to cool off too much. The sensor should be mounted on top of the engine, near the thermostat housing.

My friend had the same type of symptoms, there is a spider wed style od hoses under the intake that delivers fuel to all the cylinders that he found to have hairline cracks in it. Found out this is a know problem especially in the 4.3L Vortex

The sulfur content in the fuel is contaminating the contacts of the sending unit.
Some people have had good luck with some fuel system cleaners solving this problem. The cheap stuff doesn't seem to do the job.
Not that GM isn't completely exonerated from fault but the gas stations don't do a very good job of watching what the stations sell.

This is a safety feature that the vehicle brings. You need to reset the E.C.U on dealership or it will keep doing it to you. It was probably caused by one single time that you did not closed the fuel cap correctly. Good luck
