Because you have replace engines but I imagine that you have used the crank and cam position sensors on the 3.5 but connected up to the kia ECM there is a possibility that the ecm is not reading those position sensors and not providing timing for the ECM . It will be reading as broken timing belt. I would suggest a scan of the fault codes to determine if there any sensors not reading correctly. You may have to find a speed shop that has CPU programming capabilities to reprogram the ECM/CPU to the different sensors.

What size bolts hold the crankshaft pulley on a 2006 Kia Sorento?

I want you to go to this url, it's the official KIA forum dealing with older Sorentos.https://www.kia-forums.com/2003-2010-sorento-forum/53820-sorento-crank-bolt.html It's free to create a login.
It details the need to replace the crank pulley bolt with a new one supplied by KIA. This bolt, if reused, can break causing a catastrophic engine failure. Do not buy any other bolt., it's not worth trying to save a few pennies.I have a 2005 Sorento and had my local KIA dealer do this job and other work as long as the front cover is off, replace the water pump, the timing belt idlers and tensioner assembly. It's cheaper to d all that at one time than to go back and have to redo the cover removal. Hope this helps.

How much to change timing belt on kia sorento 2006

This all depends on what engine you have and also if you are going to just do the belt.
this car , if you have a 100,000 miles or close you should do the job right, right meaning replace the timing belt ,water pump and timing belt pulleys and tensioner, this could run about $1200.00.

the same job with the smaller engine could be $800.00

if you just do the belt alone which is not the right way but can be done then it may cost about $500.00 -$600.00

I have a 2008 Kia Sorento LX 3.3. where is the adjuster bolt for the idler pulley? Trying to change serpentine belt and idler pulley.

The idler pulley deflects out of the way using a special wrench, the pulley is held against the belt only by a preset spring tension mechanism. You put the wrench on the bolt or in the square drive hole and deflect the pulley away from the belt, it must be manually held there to put the new belt on and then released to tension the new belt.
