I have a 2002 Toyota solar a it put the battery in backwards and now my gear shifter radio dash brakes are not working I checked and changed blown fuses it starts and runs just fine

Check for blown fuses you have to step on the brake peddle to move the gear shift if the fuse is blown the switch can't activate and let the shifter release I would check all fuses for the shifter and brake pedal and brake lights if they are blown no brake lights the safety features kick in and you can't drive the car and if you gear shift was always loose and wobbly before the window motor replacement it's very possible that the shifter tube in the steering column has broke and it is not closing the switches in the column causing blown fuses so only you know if that shift lever was always tight and ok if it wiggles back and forth and very unstable that's it this should be tight and precise wobbly and wiggly is n/g also are the interior lights working properly and when the doors open the lights come on and go off when closed if not check the wires going to the lock switch and the ground wire for the actual door latch lock that holds the door closed to the body the wires could be on the same circuit also power lick actuators if the plug was left off the circuit is open I hope that you disconnected the battery cables before doing the window motor any jumping off positive to negative will cause blown fuses and check both the passenger compartment fuses and the power distribution box under the hood as well as the accessories relays

Step on brake pedal have some one tell you if brake lights are on .if not you probably have a bad brake light switch or a blown fuse once repaired it will let you put the shifter in gear. if this was helpful please leave good feed back

there is a plastic boot above gear shift punch it out use screwdriver in hole it will release gear shifter put car in neutral it will start

your car like most cars today have an interlocking mechanism in the shifting lever that is activated when the brake pedal is pushed, you may have a bad break switch or bad shifter lever locking soleneoid..

i would double check the fuses and then check the charging system.for some reason the alt fuse blew unless it was jumped off backwards or cables were hooked up backwards.on all toyota the batt and brake light will come on when it is not charging.make sure all fuses are good and alt has power at the big wire on top.

See if your brake lights are working you may have a blown stop fuse.
you can remove the small acsess panel by the shifter and put a somthing in the hole to manually release the shifter.

check for blown fuse(s). Seems like you tapped into the backup light circuit.

first check the illumation fuse which to toyota its the panel fuse, check if it is blown. if not take the aftermarket wire harness u wired in with the radio harness and disconnect the orange wire (illumation wire) and see if u have lights again. sometimes the aftermarket orange wire won't work with toyota vehicles. good luck

Check your fuse box under the hood. A fusible link may be blown. I carelessly crossed jumper cables and ended up with no power to all these components as well. I located and changed the fusible link and everything is back to normal.

Try this: Start the car. Have someone look at the brake lights. Press the brake pedal. Do the brake lights come on? There is a switch on the brake pedal that allows the shifter to come out of park. No brake lights? Check the brake fuse. Fuse OK? Check under the hood for a blown 30 amp (or bigger) fuse. I'd bet that you have a blown large fuse. Did anyone try to "jump" the battery just before this happened? If so, you may def have a blown large fuse. Hope this helps.
