Sadly, the horn relay is built into the Smart Junction Block (passenger fuse box)
see diagram.
I think you may have a bad/sticking horn switch, which is part of the drivers airbag module. if there are no concerns with the speed control or airbag lamp on, the clock spring in the column is ok.

all the switch does is complete a ground circuit to the relay. you may have a wire pinched under the airbag in the wheel.

since an airbag is involved, I would recommend a dealer check this part. Airbags are dangerous.

SOURCE: where is located the ford f-150 horn

If you slide under the front bumper, in front of the passenger side front wheel, and look up, the high and low note horns should be on a bracket right there.

SOURCE: where is the horn located on a 1998 ford explorer

The horn is usually between the radiator and grill Assembly. The fuse is in fuse panel under the dash on the drivers side. Look at the lid and it shows the fuse placement and there use.

SOURCE: 1988 Ford Crown Vic Horn Relay Location

The horn relay IS NOT located in a box toward the front of the engine. It is located just behind the radiator overflow reservoir and attached to the inner fender next to two other relays. It is the only one without a plastic cover over the top of it. FYI, our Crown Vic horn didn't blow, and the cruise didn't work. I changed the relay and still no horn. I decided to check the horns themselves. Found wires disconnected from terminals. Touched wire to horn terminal and horn blew incessantly. (previous owner had disconnected horn rather than diagnose why) Pulled the horn "button" from steering wheel and disconnected the wire leads and horn quit. Disassembled the "button" assembly. Foam had degraded over time between the contacts. (Ford has discontinued this part). Cleaned and replaced foam with Scotch foam mounting squares with holes punched out over contacts (2 layers thick). Re-assembled and viola! Horn and cruise control both work! Relay was bad as was horn button.

08 ford edge, horn does not work at steering wheel, but works when locking car with key fob.

there may be a problem with wiring in steering column? The horn switch on steering wheel and that wiring circuit is ground for control side of horn relay. The horn relay is not serviceable. If the relay was the problem, you could mount external relay. It just depends on the problem? If the horn sounds at all then I don't think the fuse is the problem. good luck

Where is the horn relay located on a 2007 ford edge sel

It is located in the SJB - smart junction box an it is a non- serviceable part . soldered to the board inside . Where do you hear the clicking noise coming from ? The SJB is located behind the left side kick panel .
SECTION 413-06: Horn 2007 Edge/MKX Workshop Manual DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION Procedure revision date: 10/30/2006 Horn The horn system consists of the following components:
  • Horn switches (part of the steering wheel)
  • Clockspring
  • Horn relay (part of the smart junction box [SJB])
  • Horn
For removal and installation of the steering wheel, refer to Section 211-04 .
For removal and installation of the SJB, refer to Section 419-10 .
Principles of Operation
The smart junction box (SJB) supplies the control and switched voltage to the horn relay (part of the SJB). When the horn switches (part of the steering wheel) are pressed, ground is supplied through the clockspring to the horn relay. The horn relay is then energized directing voltage to the horn and enabling the horn to sound. When the vehicle security system is armed, the SJB provides a momentary ground to the horn relay control side to indicate the system is armed, and an on and off ground when an intrusion is detected or the panic alarm is activated.
If your horns are not working ,you have a wiring problem or the clock spring is open . If the relay is bad the whole SJB has to be replace an the dealer would have to do that . Needs to be programmed ,with factory tool .
Symptom Chart Condition Possible Sources Action
  • The horn is inoperative
  • Fuse
  • Circuitry
  • Horn
  • Clockspring
  • Steering wheel switch harness
  • Horn switches (part of the steering wheel)
  • Smart junction box (SJB)

The fuse for the horn (horn relay) is in the power distribution box located in the engine compartment (see picture below). That fuse in in the number 28 position (see other picture below) and the horn relay itself is located in the number 47 position. This information should be in your owners manual if you have one. If you need an owners manual for your vehicle you can email me at [email protected] with your make, model and year of your vehicle and what you need and I will be happy to email you a copy and don't worry no cost to you. HORN DOESN'T WORK. lOOKING FOR FUSE SO WE CAN REPLACE IT.

Hello hthmases: My name is Roger and I will help with your question> The horn fuse is located in the fuse box under the hood. The fuse is in location (R) in the box. Look on the cover for the location it will be a 15 amp fuse and blue in color. If the fuse is ok I would have some one push the horn pad while I listened for the relay to click. The relay is located on the left fender in the corner to the right of the master cylinder. If the relay does click I would suspect a bad horn. If there is power at the horn its self the horn would be bad. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer you received. Thank You for trusting Fix Ya for your answer . Roger

2001 f-150 ford pick up truck . horn will not work

Did you check the fuse for the horn ? Engine compartment fuse panel, fuse #7, 20A

You can pull the horn relay, and jumper the normally open contacts to see if the fuse, horn and grounds for the horn are in working order ( this operates the horn without needing to use the horn button ).
The Horn relay is a half size Ford ISO relay in the engine compartment fuse panel ( check your owners manual to locate relay 206 ).

Diagram to jumper the horn relay, with this in place, the horn should sound as long as the jumper is in place

1999 Chevy Cavalier Horn Relay Location

The relay is located under the glove compartment. Little difficult to get to but if you peek your head just underneath, you'll see it. Easy to take out and replace. Ive replaced mine and still have a problem. I hear a clicking noise and even can feel the contact when horn is pressed. I changed the horn about 1yr ago and now am wondering if the horn could have gone out so soon.

Look between the radiator support and the front grill on the left and right hand sides.
Also,,there is no need to replace the Horn Relay when replacing the horn unless the relay is faulty.
