When I drive over 50 mph and stop, I get messages 'engine system default' and 'transmission system default'. The car slows down, but does not completely die out. I turn it off and am amble to restart after a few minutes. So, I only drive the streets now until I can figure it out. The mechanic gets a code 1146 and Jaguar won't tell us what it means. 2002 X-type, 3 ltr.
Sounds like you have lost overdrive. Most cars go into to limp mode with engine and transmission problems. Limp mode is reduced engine power and the transmission only shifts to certain gears. Keeps people from totally destroying the drive train.

The transmission model in your car is a 5R55N which is manufactured by the Ford motor company.There are currently 3 different modles of the 5R55,including also the W and S models.The Pressure Control Solenoid is a part of,the solenoid block.The solenoid block is mounted just inside the transmission pan,and can be replaced with a new one to see if it fixes the problem.If the trans ultimately needs to be rebuilt,a new solenoid block would be installed on one of my rebuilds anyways.If the solenoid block doesn't fix the problem,the trans would either have to be removed and rebuilt,replaced with a remanufactured unit,or replaced with a salvage yard,good used unit.Good luck.

I have not got a jag yet, I am thinking about buying one I have owned bmws and audis. ALL CARS FROM europe have electircal probs. I dont know why, this prob sounds like a ground prob. I would check the controil mode on the firewall. Bmws always had a fuse there that would short out on the hood and cause the same prob. I just moved the fuse panel/controil down lower and never had the prob again. I know bmw are different but a car is a car.
