Question about 1998 Cadillac DeVille

Low oil presure

Did valve job and low oil presure comes on has no oil coming up to the heads.Canged oil and filter still the same problem.

My oil warning light came on on my VW Polo yesterday so I filled it up because it was a quarter full. It has come on again today but I have oil in it. Why is this?
It may be that your oil pressure sender switch is faulty.
The sender will look something like what is in the photos. It's easily removed.

The oil pressure switch will look similar to one of those in the attached photos. Look in the area of your oil filter/cylinder head.

Changed the head in a 2000 chevy venture as soon as van starts low oil presure light comes on. Did oil change and put in new oil pump still low oil light on. Help
Two things I can think of. did you prime the new oil pump?. If so the oil pump by pass valve may be stuck open. I often prime a pump with petroleum jelly as oil often leaks out .

Low pressure I'm assuming you mean low compression. Do a "wet test" first. If compression is still low, check your valve adjustments. tight valves will cause low compression. Also has this engine been overheated badly,or have excessive mileage on it? Could be a head gasket, or damaged rings/cylinders.

LOW OIL LITE COMES ON WHEN RPM REACH 2000
sounds like the oil is staying in the head
and not returning to the lower end fast enough
the oil returns are clogged and restricting the flow.
The fix for this is remove valve cover clean returns
change the oil and filter reinstall valve cover.
If you do not know what you are doing take it to a mechanic.

There will be one of three things wrong:
1) The oil pump lost prime. This engine uses a gerotor type pump and long periods of sitting allows the oil to drain back to the pan.
2) There is a restriction at the oil pickup screen or at the passage between the block and head. There is a check valve in the block (at the head gasket, there is an opening) and there could be trash blocking it.
3) IF you're lucky, its a defective sending unit.
Until you know for sure, don't run it. Install a mechanical guage, disable the ignition system at the module plug, and crank the engine. Some pressure should register on the gauge, if only 3-5psi. If it doesn't, remove the oil filter, take a quart of oil with a nozzle on it and force oil back into the outlet port of the filter housing, fill the filter completely, then spin it on as quickly as you can. Some oil will be spilled, but this is a step you want to take before tearing into the motor. Another quick way is put approximately 10 quarts of oil in it and with the ignition disabled, crank it over and see if the pressure comes up. (GM sent that as a bulletin on Northstar engines that lost prime. The down force of the pistons will force the oil to go to the pump.) JUST BE SURE TO DISABLE THE IGNITION. Hope this helps...

Low oil presure only in the morrning for about 2 min. at the same time motor is running fine, but showing no oil presure, then gauge go's to normal. Motor still running fine! Could it be a pressure...
Ok filter problem could be there filters that have a valve used to chek the oil gallery is not downloaded and so when the engine begins to work up the pressure quickly. Also in other systems, this valve is fitted in the pump aceite.thanks good luck

sounds like a leaky oil presure switch. they will leak oil out of the wires comming out of them sometimes saturating the connector of the switch. If that isnt the problem then your oil pump is weak causing the lite to come on or your leak is so bad your oil level is so low the lite is coming on

yes it would be cheaper to find a good used motor instead of having a machine shop charge you $750 to mic a head

Oil presure light comes on after driving 15 min. only when i stop. this just started after i gave it a rutine oil change. when ii turn the heater on it stops coming on .
After making sure that you used the propper oil filter and the correct grade of oil. inspect the Oil presure switch. if you see it wet with oil, replace it. given that you hear no internal engine noises, while you come to a stop and the light comes on. Then more that likely you have the wrong filter. please doubble check your oil level, 2.. Hope this helps
