Engine won't start. Spraying starting fluid will start the engine until the fluid vapor dissipates. Replaced with a new fuel pump with new strainer. Replaced fuel filter. I suspect the fuel pump relay.... Please advise! Willie
The computer controls the injection of the fuel. If you look at the wiring diagram you will note the bottom 4 pins that are the negative and positive to the left and right injection. Atleast on my 1991 it is .Could be the ecm or computer is sending a false signal or not sending one at all. A sign of this is the fuel pump in the gas tank can be heard and will continue to run as if pressure in the fuel system is not building. Tthe truck want crank as if no fuel. When starter fluid is injected into the Throttle body the egine will start and run untill fluid is used up. It will keep running as long as fluid is added.
There is a safety relay in trunk ,open trunk and look to right side upper and push reset button

Check for 12 volts power at the fuel pump harness. If no power is going to the pump, check the fuel pump relay. Also, check the fuel pump inertia switch. Ford usually has it on either inside left or right rear trunk fenders.

I would check the compression. As air compresses it heats up. A trick I've used on cold diesels is to bump the starter trying not to let the motor actually turn over, so you keep compressing the same air. Do that a few times then try starting.
