Bummer deal! Rough idle and black smoke indicates a possible bad fuel injector leaking gas - or failing spark plugs. Bad or dirty injectors are a cause of sticky valves, and when sticky do cause rough idle and sometimes valve tapping - beside black smoke. Check those items first as they are most common failures. Rarely, a engine head sealing gasket may leak coolant into the motor to cause such problems. That would make a white steamy smoke. In that case it would overheat - did it? In this case, serious engine work, or a new engine is needed. I like the products at this web sites to end those issues. Hope this helps. SOURCE: Rough idle, no power, steamy exhaust

The answer was the plug top coils. The plugs and coils were replaced and the car is fine. The steam was not steam - it was white smoke from the catalytic converters. No mayo in the oil and no coolant level drop should have eliminated the head gasket. The steam turned out to be a red herring.

Sounds like blown head gasket (or worse) still to me.
Remove oil filler cap and look for grey oil.
Never use water these days but special coolant. Water makes vapour spots and cause block cracks, worse then blown gaskets!!!
vapour does not cool very well.
Look like you have cracks already.
Take a compression test if possible. But might not show op at that temperature.
The gauge indication troubles me.

SOURCE: what does the orange warning sign on the dashboard means?

There are several waring lights on your dash so lets see if i can guess: does it look like this ( ! ) with some squiggly lines under it? If it is that's your tire pressure warning light tell you that one or more of your tires is low on air. after you correct you tire pressure you'll find a tire pressure reset switch just inside you glove box push it for a few seconds and your warning light should get cleared.

SOURCE: 1995 gmc jimmy 4x4 rough idle smell gas from tail pipe

To check EGR valve, plug the vacuum hose to it, and it should not get hot anymore. It if does, it is leaking.
But gas smell is usually bad plug wire or plug.
With good insulation, remove one sparkplug wire at a time, to see if one has no effect. That is the target.

I have a engine failure hazard with stop and oil can being displayed what does this mean

Not good. It is low oil PRESSURE, not low oil LEVEL, although low oil can cause low pressure if the pump is scavenging. When was the last time the oil filter was changed?

Is it bad to drive my 2006 Malibu with blue smoke from tailpipe

That could be a sign of a blown head gasket check and make sure the car is not over heating if so that may be the case.

I have a dodge 1.8L. the oil ligh flashes when it running and my foot is on the accelerator, but comes off when it idles on its own.

It is not a big worry if the oil light comes on at low idle, but it should go off as soon as the revs rise a bit. I'd recommend

- change the oil AND FILTER with the correct grade, to the correct level.
- ask a mechanic to temprarily replace the oil pressure sender with an oil pressure gauge, and with the engine HOT, rev the engine up and down to see what pressure there is. You should have roughly 10 psi per 1000 RPM.

If the pressure is very low, ask the mechanic to check the oil pump and engine bearings. If you are not burning oil with lots of blue smoke from the exhaust, it is unlikely the bearings are worn.

I'm having rough idle and smoke all of a sudden with my golf mk4 The oil warning lights up in dash. Oil level ok. Spark plugs not burning well. Replace spark plugs, changed oil filter, changed

Smoke is not a good sign. Running rough is not a good sign. Oil light not a good sign. You could have a combination of bad things, most likely expensive. Suggest professional help. Smoke can be bad rings or holed piston. Low oil pressure can be bad bearing or oil pump.

While driving my dashboard displayed the warning sign for oil. the oil level was correct, but still it is rough on idle and makes a lot of smoke. how may i diagnose the problem?

You have not stated the make and model but i suspect you may have too much oil in the engine ,a common cause for this is the end breaks off the plastic dipstick and it gets filled to about a inch from the bottom of the dipstick ,hence overfilled .

CEL blinking smoke coming from exhaust, rough idle

White smoke is indicative of burning coolant. Gray smoke is burning oil.

Have a compression test done which will often give an indication of evolving head gasket problems. If the coolant level is going down, and there's no obvious leak, its a head gasket.
