If the heater core flows good in both directions, then I doubt its clogged. After getting up to operating temperature, are both heater hoses fairly hot where the enter the firewall/heater core? If one is significantly colder, that indicates a clogged heater core.

You may have a "blend door" that is stuck open. The blend door is in the heater core housing and that allows fresh (cold) air to mix with the heated air passing thru the heater core.
The blend door is usually moved open/shut by an actuator. Sometimes this actuator goes bad.

In less common cases, the water pump impeller/bearings may be bad, and not putting out proper flow. Just some additional things to check. Hope this helps.

Check to make sure vents are not clogged, below window by wipers check that and vents from dash going down,If not plugged then probably your heater core or heater blower motor may be shot or weak, you need a Haynes manual to check these if you are not familiar with where these are located at.Haynes manuals can be bought at most auto parts stores

I had the same overheating problem in my jeep ! My problem was finaly found out to be the clutch in my fan its a different kind of clutch system it work as this. When your jeep gets warmer the tighter your fan clutch gets .While cool your fan moves slowly. now to test your clutch just warm up your jeep and rev it up a bit if your fan dose not pick up speed then it is sliping. What will come out of this is that you fan will the seez and run full all the time. if you jeep dose not overheat wile moving then it is not your thermo stat period.

SOURCE: 2000 Cherokee not warm

Aside from flushing the radiator and heater core andreplacing your hoses, did you happen to replace your thermostat. Sounds to me like that's your problem if everything else seems to be in order. If you change the thermostat and still have no heat, you might check your vacuum lines running to the back of your heater controls inside your dash. That's really the only other thing that I believe could be causing your lack of heat.

Hope this helps! Have a great day and try to stay warm!

sounds like a head gasket problem. A minor leak there will pump compression into coolant and force it out of heater core. Any unusual steaming from tail pipe? Also: if radiator was flushed "in car" sometimes debris does not come out. Try flushing with it out of the vehicle. Jeep radiators are notoriously small for their application if not at at least 90% they will not work correctly.I'd look at the hg first though otherwise, your symptoms seem to be contradictory.

SOURCE: The heat in my 1992 Jeep Wangler is not working.

Hi!
It appears we have an Air lock scenario and you will need to perform a system Bleed.
Park the vehicle on level ground, when cold remove coolant filler cap, start engine and leave to idle, turn heater on full and blower to max. When engine reaches operating temperature watch and listen near coolant filler, keep clear as gurgling and hopefully a boil over should occur. Top up with very warm coolant and wait as it may do it again.
Check for heat inside vehicle if warm replace coolant cap but keep an eye on temperature gauge as the ~Air lock may have moved on from heater matrix/core so proceedure needs to be carried out again from COLD.
If persistent boil ups/over attention must made in the cylinder head
or gasket area, or possibly water pump?

What to check for ford 2003 mustang overheating

Over heating can be caused by many things. The first question I would have is when did the problem begin? If you or someone recently added coolant, perhaps the wrong type was added. The second question would be when was the last time the coolant system was flushed? Preston sells a product with easy to follow instructions to flush out debris in the system. The third is are there any hose leaks? Low levels of fluid would certainly case over heating. The fourth is to change the oil regularly. Old oil and low oil means more heat. Fifth is to be sure nothing is blocking the radiator. A man just lost as big race over a food wrapper stuck on the radiator!! Car was over heating so he slowed down. Does the over heating happen only when you stop at a light? May be a bad fan sensor. Beyond these items you may have a bad thermostat or worst case a bad water pump.

Why is my coolant overflowing when my 2006 Chevy equinox heats up?

thet moment stop your engine and grab top radiator hose, feel the heat then grab lower radiator hose they have to be hot same heat. Top hose very hot is radiator blockage, Or lower hose very hot thermostat damage ,for test thermostat tide whith a string or wire have one glass cold water and juck boiling water deep thermostat in and you have to see the opening if is not then you have to replace it. Don ever youse radiator flush with the thermostat on. Blown head gasket means continual air bubble when you remove radiator cap special white froth, check for loose or damage hose and heter leaks when cooling system is under pressure.check low and high rpm exhaust fumes.

When you fill the radiator, did you make sure the car heater was set to Full Hot? If not, there could be an airlock in the water system. This can give the symptoms you describe.

Drained radiator added prestone Radiator flush refilled and started overheating, drained radiator replaced thermostat and now I get no heat from heater,Radiator water is hot

disconnect the heat hoses going into fire wall , put hose into one with pressure and flush as it sounds like it could be bloked in the heater core, the other thing that could be the problem be the hot ,cold switch as it restricts the flow to makes the heater hoter or colder , it might need tlc or replacing as it is manaul not elec

Van over heats it has a new waterpump and thermostat but there is no heat .........with the thermostat out it wont over heat but still no heat

Sounds like a clogged radiator and heater core. Over use of leak sealants, rust, sludge build up or other debris is likely cause. Remember that the heater core and radiator have very small passages and part of the same system of circulation, so what affects one, will affect the other, Try a good system flush before you invest any more money. Also check your temperature control cable for proper operation for your heat issue.Hope this helps.

Over heating, thermostat replaced, radiator, engine, and heat core flushed, no water in exhaust.fans working, water pump flushes water thru.

You may have air in the system. Let the engine run with the radiator cap off until the thermostat opens. Have someone then get in the truck and bring the rpm up to 1800 to 2000 rpm and hold it there for 15 to 20 seconds while you top off the system with coolant and put the radiator cap tightly back on. Then bring the rpm down to idle and road test the truck. DO NOT BRING THE RPM BACK DOWN TO IDLE UNTIL THE RADIATOR CAP HAS BEEN INSTALLED COMPLETELY. I suggest replacing the radiator cap at this time also.

2002 pt cruiser overheating was told i need a new raditor and thermostat for 1 grand sounds fishy

Flush rad & change coolant & thermostat. Check operation of rad fan, & make sure it is coming on when engine reaches normal operating temperature. Be sure to bleed air out good when refilling rad/cooling system. Start engine & turn heater on when refilling & let rad fan come on & off at least 2 or 3 times before putting cap back on rad, and refill rad as needed as you do this. then fill return bottle to proper level & see what happens.

Hi i have a 1994 toyota estima which has started to over heat when sitting in traffic. I am not sure were the thermostat is located, as i guess this is the problem.

Thermostat, coolant sensor, fan relay etc. First check the coolant level, check for leaks. Check if the fans are on when the engine is hot, about to over heat. If equipped with two fans they both should be on. If its all good have the system flushed and a new thermostat installed. If you want to change the thermostat yourself follow the big hoses that are attached to the radiator. Look at each where they attach to the engine. It should be apparent where the thermostat is at the end of the hose. After replacing the thermostat if you don't top off the coolant and there is air in the system the car will over-heat with the new thermostat. Some times radiators have air bleed valves on top. If not then jack up the car a little. Jack it up in the side the radiator cap is at so the air can work its way out. To fill it add coolant when the car is cold, off, and jacked up. Leave the cap off and start the car this is so the thermostat opens and the coolant flows. Continue to add coolant until it over-flows close or put the cap on. Put coolant in the over flow reservoir fill it to the low level. If the radiator has the air valve you don't need to jack the car. If you did it right the car should not over heat and the heater should be working.
