Removing roof rail mount can cause roof damage. And i think you just be careful while removing rail mount. You just need the screw driver and obviously little bit of effort. And in case you make your roof damaged then you should quickly apply Liquid Roofing Liquid Roof AND RV Roof Coatings
Dont ask me on this you are better off with a classic vehicle restorer who has the right tools fabricate new parts and fit the new lining .Sorry for such a negative reply but this bodywork lark is a specialist sort of repair and us spanner men just know how to hit things with a big hammer to amke them work
Where is it leaking? If its at the fuel rail fuel pressure regulator you may need a new regulator if leaking on the metal part. If its leaking at the rail side its just the "O" ring. Relieve fuel pressure(push in valve under plastic cap right side beside alternator on rail. Remove the torx screw holding regulator bracket. Pry out and replace "O" ring, reassemble. If its not the regulator it may be a fuel injector, you need to remove the fuel rail and replace both the upper and lower injector "O" rings. This however needs the intake manifold removed to repair.
i can,t see why all these should need to be replaced, you need to get a more detailed report of what exactly they want to replace and for what reason in my experience dealerships dealing with roof faults will replace parts one by one untill the problem is fixed and surely the dealer should cover the cost of the repair if the roof faulted after only 3 weeks
I just purchased a used yukon xl. Both plastic rails are broken.
Solution: Drill out the blind rivet. Start with 1/8 drill bit and remove the head off. The plastic broken part can now be removed.
Install a blind rivet through the new plastic rail and use the rivet gun to squeeze the rivet in place. Make sure it is the right length.
get a grip gage and determine the right rivet for it.
very easy job.
It sounds like you broke your pan hard bar, or it's mount. If this has happened you need to check your lower arms also to make sure they did not get bent in the process. The pan hard bar extends from the rear axle housing to the frame, wich is braced to the opposite frame rail. I would think if it or the mounting bracket is bent or broken is should be pretty noticable. You will have to look under the car at the back side of the housing, in front of the gas tank. You may need a flashlight to see up to the frame rail bracket.
You can try a Camaro/Firebird "club" type web site to help find pictures. I do not know of any right off hand.
Good Luck,
Richard
I had this, there are two small brackets along the rails ( L shape about 3/4" long). on mine, one of them fell preventing it from closing. I reached and felt the loose part on top of headboard leaning againts the the side of the body. Goodluck
The sunvisor is attached to the roof with 3 screws on the outboard end of the visor (towards the door). Once you removed these 3 phillips head screws and pull the attaching bracket down, there may be an electrical connector you will need to unplug. This is not a difficult job.
Hope this is helpful!
