You cant. It controls everything required for the engine to run. Timing, fuel, air etc.

To reset it disconnect the Negative (-) battery cable for at least five minutes. But I know that will not cure your problem.

You can't program it unless you have a factory scan tool , this is dealer only .

It definitely sounds like an electrical problem. You should add more details to narrow the search.....such as it works sometimes.....or it is worse on humid or rainy days. These kind of details would indicate a faulty, or dirty connection. It does sound like the first place to start would be the ECU or main computer. I myself would disconnect the connectors in and out of that black box. Then I would spray them with electrical cleaner/lubricant then see if that helps. Of course swapping out a known good ECU would really help, but returning one of those could be problematic if that didnt cure your problem. If it is the humidity because of the change of seasons.....try letting the car dry out in the sun with the doors open.

Thats because they didnt have them back then: ) If you unhook your battery for 10 to 20 minutes it will reset everything. Hope that helps you out.

I would first renew the petrol tank cap, or the gasket on it, if you can obtain one. Then see if the fault is cured. It is very common for a worn cap to cause the engine check light to glow, on any make.
To reset the ECU this procedure is said to work, although I think it is very weird. It would not seem to be damaging though

The ECU doesn't have anything to do with lights, windows or blower on your vehicle. Fuse or burned ground wire in those circuits if far more likely. Get a wiring diagram and find the common /fuseswires to those circuits.

Hi i have only had this problem once after boost.
I solved it by disconnection the battery over nite to reset the ECU give it a try,
