I drive a Lexus 2006 ES330 and recently had the battery light appear on the dash. I took in to my mechanic and had to replace the alternator. After doing so my sunroof will not open unless I hold the button down instead of pushing the button and it opens entirely as it did before. I know there's a simple way to do reset the electrical system...I just can't remember.

Sounds like you need to reset the auto up/down feature. Most vehicles require you to "roll" the window down, hold for 10 secs, roll the window up, and hold switch for 10 secs. This should reset it. If not, you may need to do reverse of what I said.

Try this!!! There is a Tilt button and a seperate open/close button I belive . try holding the Tilt button up while holding the open/close button up also at the same time.WHILE THE CAR IS ON!!. Then turn your car off while still holding the buttons up. Then turn your car on again and should work un its totally fried from the rain. What this does is it re-programs your sunroof to work again. Hope this works

Can't say for sure about this particular model, but most vehicles with sunroofs have a manual crank for situations like this. Generally it is located forward of the sunroof on the roof of the interior of the car, sometimes under a panel or interior light. This at least will get the roof closed until the problem can be fixed. It may also allow the sun roof to realign itself and help the electric crank to start working again.
