I have a 97 Ssangyong Musso with auto transmission, which sometimes won't select revesre, forward gears work fine, is there a way to fix this without removing the gearbox

Hi if you look at the pipes coming from your vacuum pump and follow the one that runs along the side of the engine and goes to the bulkhead you will find a T piece this has probably split and you no longer have the vacuum to close the fuel delivery

hi there! i was a master tech 4 hyundai, first of all has the atf fluid been changed and at the correct level. or have you had the multifuntion switch checked? please feel free to contact myself and i will advise you as required with my exsperience

It appears you have a Forward Clutch FAILURE. Replace the trans after you get it diagnosed and verified by a professional technician. By the way, do you have a Check Engine light? If so, what is the diagnostic code? The dealership can scan the system and find any codes which may have been stored in the TCM (Transmission Control Module). If there were any 'Incorrect Gear Ratio" codes, it's most probably the trans itself.

Doubt it as the fault suggests you need to look into the range sensor. If similar to Renault there is a switch on the gearbox that senses where the select lever is (at the gearbox end). If the display is wrong then the sensor needs looking at and either it will need to be adjusted into a set position by moving it, or perhaps the connector to it or wiring to/from it have a fault.
