2000 passat 1.8 Runs great when weather is cold (below 35degs and runs rough when air temp is above 40degs

I have changed out the MAF sensor and had a couple coils changed, but still same results. Feels like the car is running out of gas at warm air temps, but at colder air temps, the cars runs good..Any ideas? Thank You

SOURCE: Ford Crown Vic p0300 random cylinder misfire

take a look at the EGR valve it could be either vacum controlled or electronic either way what seems to be the problem is that the valve is stuck in the open position until the engine warms up you can gently tap the egr valve with a small hammer or a screw driver and you can see that it runs smooth, now if the egr valve is vacum controlled replace the valve. if it is electronoc controlled replace the valve and the module for the egr valve.

SOURCE: 1999 TJ Wrangler/Sah runs rough after warm

we have the same problem on our 2004 dakota. The mechanic says that it could be the exhaust vacuum that needs to be replaced. Also, they also mentioned that sometimes when the catalytic converter is plugged it acts that way also.

Let me know if this helps.

SOURCE: when warm runs rough sets

If the cat is cherry red as you say it is I would check the firing order or timing they may have crossed plug wires this will cause the exhaust manifolds to get red hot and glow let me know if this heled you and good luck.It definitely sound to be timing related or crossed wires.

1998 Civic, Cold start, idles fine. When car is warm idle speed increases then decreases over and over again from about 600 rpm to 1100 rpm. once warmed up and driving throttle becomes on-off...

it could be the MAF sensor or the air temp sensor, it could also bet the idle sensor, it would be best to put the engine on an ecu reader to read live data as it would show at what temps the senors are working at some times it may not trigger a fault, but live data will tell you at what temps the sensors are say they are and you should be able to see what one is not working right. i would think it would be Maf sensor when was the last time the air filter was changed. if its really dirty change it and also use some MAF sensor cleaner you can buy it from a range of places and clean the MAF sensor. be careful cleaning it only use the recommended maf cleaner as other chemicals will damage it. remove the sensor from the rubber pipes a spray the cleaner on the the sensor an a bit of paper towel give it a good clean with the spray and leave it to dry before refitting. some people use carb cleaner but would not recommend it.

96 Jimmy runs better in cold weather than warm

Hi Buc, have a look at all the intake manifold ducting and make sure nothing is broken and leaking air. Also make sure that all vacuum hoses are fitted tight and correctly and they are not loose, broken or cracked. It will be better to check each by disconnecting, checking and refitting. Let me know how you get on. Have a happy new year. Regards John

During cold weather the engine runs fine but during warm weather the engine dies

Could be a problem with your intake air temp sensor or your coolant temp sensor. The most likely would be the coolant temp sensor. It may be reading cold and will make it run good as the engine is cold but as it warms it is not adjusting the air fuel ration to the proper levels making it run rough hot

The knock sensor NEVER causes a drivability problem. DO NOT change it. Instead, clean the MAF, Mass Air Flow sesnor that's on the air intake tube near air cleaner. It is coated with varnish. Spray with carb cleaner several times and gently, gently brush the wires. Theya re glass coated. Be careful.

Then disconnect battery for 2 hours and then reconnect and drive for 0 miles for computer to relearn engine contrils.

Rough idle when engine is cold 1997 Explorer V 6

There are 2 common problems on this concern. 1st maybe a dirty MAF sensor. Remove the MAF sensor and clean it with a good electrical cleaner and air dry or light shop air, then reinstall and do a couple of wide open throttle burst to reset it.
2nd problem and we see alot of this is the orings between the upper and lower intake manifold leaks. You would have to remove the upper intake manifold and replace them.
