1999 Chev 2500HD - Blinkers only blink when brake applied

1999 Chev 2500HD - Blinkers only blink when brake is applied. As long as the brake pedal is pressed, blinkers blink, release the brake and they stop. Front, Rear, Left , Right, no difference.

Bought it used, and am slowly figuring out all the quirks.

Any pointers ?

Try replace the bulbs in the rear first, thne next is checking the brake switch to see if it may be shorted but guess it will be the turn signal switch harness is bad. The blinkers and brakes are on same wire most common problem is the turn signal switch harness goes bad. about $50.00 to fix if you have a puller and a compressor to compress spring in the center.

How do i change a brake light switch on a 2005 nissan maxima

where your brake pedal mounts to the pedal assembly there is an electric switch on the brake pedal arm that has a tang that is pushed in when you apply the brake. Replace said switch. If this is confusing watch this video; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6MdAVgr-y8

My brake lights and rear blinkers are not working. I have replaced the bulbs in both brake lights. What next?

most blinkers uses relays, and when they flashes fast one light is out, but you replaced your burnt bulb might be a bad relay.

Third brake light stays on; brakelights very dim; radio, clock, flasher emblem on dash blink when turn signals are used; signals flash fast when brake pedal is applied.

Sounds like you have a short somewhere in the brake circuit. May be between the brakes and the blinkers in the brake lights.

Pressing brake causing blinker issue

The trailer harness that was installed probably has a short inside the box that distributes power to the trailer pig-tail. Remove the trailer harness. You problem will be cured.
