Tcs Light I have a 99 acura 3.5 rl that is losing power and the tcs light is flashing what do you think the problem is.

Your TCS light is your traction control system and I am unsure as to why it would cause a loss of power. Does your power issue occur when the light is flashing? Does it flash all the time?

I found this : TCS activates when driving over a rough patch of road. Solution: Acura service center found that in the '91 in question there was a computer program bug in the TCS unit. Acura sent an updated unit and that fixed the problem. [A/H] The Traction Control System looks at many things to determine if the rear wheels are spinning too fast. One is the speed of the front wheels (Antilock brake sensors) compared to the rears, and one front to the other front. It also check the throttle position, engine speed, and steering angle sensor in the steering column. If the rear wheel speed changes in relation to the front wheels or the two fronts go a different speed, then the computer assumes that you are in a corner. If the steering angle sensor says that you were going straight and there was no change in the throttle position or the engine speed then the traction control computer gets confused and shuts its self off. Ask anyone who has spun off a track how many different lights were on when they came to a stop. Clearing the computer by cycling the key will make the light go out but the codes are still in the memory. They can be pulled up by your friendly neighborhood Acura dealer, or anyone with a service manual. For liability reasons I can't tell you how to do it. I also found this [LE] The most common problem with the TCS system is a bad ring sensor at one of the the wheels. [SAN - 2000/9/3] I have a 91 with 80k mi. It had an intermittent traction control failure. The TCS light would come on at irregular intervals. Took it to the dealer and they could not diagnose problem. They replace TCS module and ECU module. This did not cure the problem. I bought the service manual and diagnosed it myself and found about the same thing the dealer did. It gave an error code 3-4 TCS to ECU communication problem. I checked wiring and connectors for open short and continuity. They checked out OK. I also monitored the TCIN (sp?) and TCOUT (sp?) control signals and they were operating as specified in the manual. Finally my car totally died. It would not start. In addition to the traction control error code 3-4 I had engine code 36. I thought it was low battery. It did not jump start. I charged battery..... no help. The manual indicates the battery voltage can sag to 9.6v and the computers and everything should work. I heard the main relay unit clicking when I bumped the wires. I took the module out and looked at the solder connections under a microscope. There were hairline fractures but no cold solder joints. I resoldered all connections. Slapped it in and the car runs great. No traction control failure now. I assume the relay was intermittently turning on and off which would deactivate the ECU temporarily which would then stop communication with the TCS module, intermittently, causing a TCS error code 3-4 to come up. Most failure modes are mechanical and not the electronics. Look at connections relay etc.

1997 Acura 3.5 RL TCS LIGHT FLASHING AND LOSSING POWER. WILL NOT GO MORE THAN 10KMPH. I CHECKED ALL THE FUSES AND BRAKE FLUID. ACURA WANTS $200.00 JUST TO CHECK, NOT THE REPAIR.

SOURCE: the tcs light and the check engine light came on

On permanently on mine ... I was told to ignore it since it was detecting carbon levels or something to that effect and since it was so old that the light would keep on coming back on unless I changed something else which would be very expensive ... so I chose to live with the light on. (I just hope nothing else happens which would have notified me that something was amiss ;^)

SOURCE: what is TCS CODE IN My 99 Acura TL

I will add that when this light is on it means the trans has a fault/problem, no matter the fault code number of which there are about a dozen

Tcs light came on 99 Acura TL. Since that happened batt died and will not charge. Alternator tested good

battery will need to be replaced and codes cleared from ecu, tcs light more then likely coincidence due to another possible failure, or due to battery problem cause the ecu to code, and needs to be reset.

Traction Control System (TCS)

did you open the glove box and read the Operators guide.
no? it says take it in,
there are good reasons. for that, it takes tools you cant buy to diagnoise it. factory scan tools.

The TCS light came on and the car started jerking especially at stops. The light would go off for a while after restarting the car but the same problems would happen and the light would eventually come...

The TCS stands for Traction Control System, I believe. The TCS is controlled by inputs from the wheel speed sensors. If you have a bad sensor, then a new hub may be required to repair it.

The check engine light may be a sepawrate problem. Have the codes scanned for both the Anti lock braking sytem, TCS, and the check engine light.

Sometimes it will require a separate scanner for the TCS/ABS vs. the Check Engine light.

Good luck on this diagnosis and repair.

2000 Acura RL and 2000 Acura Integra GS ABS light on

The SRS computer needs to be reset, if you dont have a repair manual i would first suggest finding one for each car. The basic principal is that you jumper the diagnostic plug (under the glove box in the RL). The next step I believe is that you must depress the TCS button, then while holding it down you turn the key to on, continue to hold the TCS button for 15 sec and then let off. The check engine light should then blink really quick a few times and that means its reset. Im reciting this from memory so dont quote me on it. I have done it before for the RL but not the integra, id really suggest finding a repair manual though.
