OK, you want to know if the 2004 Galant is an interference engine, because of a broken timing belt. Your car has the 2.4L engine, and its not quite an interference engine, but its very close. A broken belt MIGHT not have damaged valves when the belt failed. Your garage should be able to look at the valve gear and see if any valves are jammed. It's also possible to look in each cylinder with an endoscope camera for any valve damage. A new belt can be fitted, and the engine turned over to test compression. If there are problems spotted, then the head has to come off and the the damaged valves replaced.

Sandy, I can only assume that you have fixed whatever issue you were having by now since this post is about 4 months old but, I'd like to give an answer anyway. In order to remove the rotors you obviously have to remove the wheel first. Next you have to remove the brake caliper. To do that you usually need to slightly compress the caliper by squeezing it with a large C-clamp. After it's loose, remove the two hex head bolts, one upper and one lower, that hold the caliper in place. At this point there might be a small ring clip or two around one or two of the lug nut studs that need to be removed. A chisel, heavy wire cutters, or needle nose pliers work well to remove the ring clips. If the rotor doesn't just fall off in your hand, give it a little love tap with a hammer to loosen it and you should be all set. Please let us know how it goes. Thanks.

Hello mawbea: My name is Roger I will answer your question. You did not say which engine is in your car. So if you have a 2.0 SOHC engine. If the belt broke you should be Ok. If you have the 2.0 DOHC engine. The likely hood of bending the valves are just about a guarantee. How ever with any engine using a timing belt it is possible to bend a valve.Should you need more help please just ask.
Please rate the quality of your answer as this way we know you received helpful information.Thank You for using Fix Ya, Roger

Check your motor mounts, recently engine idled rough when in nuetral or stopped in drive, also jerked when put in reverse. took it to a automotive shop and found motor mounts cracked. Runs great now

1st Remove Battery cable from Battery because the only time the air bags will deploy is when the key is in the ignition. I have tilt steering and when I put the steering wheel in the up most position. I came right out. But now it seems to stick more lately.
