You will need to remove the airbag control module and replace or RESET it. Reset is much better and cheaper than buying a new module. If you need to locate or instructions on how to remove it, this channel on youtube has all exact locations videos:

SOURCE: Airbags deployed

You have to disconnect the battery, replace the air bag modules (air bag modules are the things that explode in your face) and the crash sensors and the control unit or module that came with it. Reconnect the battery and the car should start. Hope this is helpful.

SOURCE: ignition switch replacement

There should also be a yellow plug under dash around the steering column marked as SRS in which is the air bag conector you can also unplug it there.

SOURCE: how do i reset airbags

well firstly, did they make airbags in 1949? did they make camaros in 1949? lol guess it was a typo, If you have replaced the airbags, hopefully you did this with the battery disconnected, if you didn't and they didn't deploy, then you were lucky, many injuries have occurred with people replacing and connecting them with the power still connected. Now as for the light, unfortunaltly there is not a safer method other than to take it to a dealer to check and reset the codes, ot costs about $45, but a small price to pay for peace of mind.

There is no resetting a deployed airbag. The air bag module must be replaced and the airbag control module will need replacing along with the seatbelt pre-tensioners.

Airbag light

You need a man with a diagnostic PC to reset the code in the EMU.(Engine Management Unit)

A sensor has told the EMU that an air bag has deployed or is not able to deploy.

There are no user codes for this it has to be via a purpose built program from VW , Sorry !!

Airbags

You may need to call several salavage yards, but there should be one out there that will sell you one without the air bag. If your steering wheel isn't damaged, you might be able to disconect the air bag from the steering wheel.
