No such thing as resetting an Emission Monitor

What your asking-- is how to clear the dash light--
& ALL Data, you need to diagnose the problems
with monitors that don't run clear, with no problems

First you need to look at the OBD Codes you have
Diagnose those codes & component test & find a problem
& correct it & continue on

Without a Professional Scan Tool your at a disadvantage

If you have cylinder misfires that ruined the converter, then
you have to clean that up & test the oxygen sensors or at
least look at the data

I start with Battery Voltage,Module Voltage,Fuel Trim,MAF Data
& then Mode $06 Misfire Data & Cat Temp & on & on

All but the Evap Monitor should run in about 10 to 20 miles
of driving,not 345

You also have Freeze Frame Data at the time the Monitors
Ran & failed

So NEVER Clear the check light/MIL Lamp, etc
unless ALL issues are fixed & then only if you have to

Fault Codes you need only appear after a monitor runs,
pass or fail,so forget the battery disconnect or code clearing,
you need that data

Testimonial: "There were no codes took car for inspection 3 monitors not set, was told run car 100 miles .It is now 400 miles and cat reset after 345 but not evat or 02 sensor"

2008 Equinox 3.4 V6 readiness monitors will not get ready after repairing DTC & performing drive cycles. Does any one knows of any unusual methods to get O2s, egr and evap monitors to get ready?

Some advanced scan tools have the ability to shorten the time to reset monitors. You won't find this scanner at Auto Zone. My snap-on cost Ten grand.

Why do i get OBD/READINESS, Not ready?

Alan, I f you have had battery disconnected or had some one erase codes recently, the computer has to go through what is known as a drive cycle to complete all monitors cycling, some vehicles complete cycle in 10 miles, where as some could take 100 miles or more.
My Toyota EVAP readiness state will not cycle in cold weather and takes thousands of miles before it gets to readiness state.
I think some shops can force systems to run if they have a good scan tool.

How to reset computer when engine light is on so I can pass emissions on 2004 avalanche

Have you fixed whatever caused the code to come on? If not you will not be able to clear the code and pass emissions. Two reasons - 1. If the problem has not been repaired the check engine light will come back on. 2. Clearing the codes usual means that the OBDII monitors will also be cleared. There will be a code stored for this until the monitors are complete. If they see this co they know what you are up do and you do not pass.

How do you reset the monitors on a hyundai

You may have to drive 300 to 500 miles or more,on multiple days and at different speeds and make sure to include long deaccelerations with your foot off the gas to set the EVAP. Most areas allow 1 monitor "not reset" and still give a full pass.Check your area for allowed number of monitors. If the check engine light stays out,the monitors will eventually reset, but on a older Hyundai it takes time.

We took the car to air care and it was rejected because after work was done, the monitors were not reset yet. I was told to drive it around more and that it would reset automatically. He also said...

"drive it around more" is the solution. This allows the ECU to "learn" and store the operating conditions for emissions. 100km/ 60 miles is usually enough.

I have a problem with my 2001 Toyota sienna, took it to inspection yesterday to get inspected and didn't pass results Cat not ready and evap not ready, inspector tell us run the car couple miles and bring...

If the "evap not ready" readiness monitor never clears and you keep getting P0440,P0441,P0446 type codes, then you have a problem with the evap system. You have already tried the gas cap (good start) but there are about 6 other things it can be from electrical VSV air valves (there are 3 of them, 2 under the hood, 1 near the charcoal cannister (behind fuel tank) to 2 air operated valves on the front of the same cannister. There is also an air line that goes to one of the electric VSV valves on the air cleaner under the hood. Several oil change places have been guilty of pullling these off and not reconnecting them.
