My head lights didn't work for a long time. Took to macanic, said he couldn't get to right bulb because bolts had been striped needed to take off fender to get to it when I said just fix left one, he did get in to right one and put new bulb in it. But lights still didn't work. Said it must be electrical problem. I didn't have the money so left. $160.00 and still no lights.
Hi, had similar problem with Golf TSI headlights. managed to remove left bulbholder and changed bulb, still not working, removed right bulb holder and put into left side, working(shows no electrical fault). The problem was the bulb holder that was not working. If u can try this maybe solve problem. All the best. Good luck.
I hope you already checked the fuses?and the headlight relay behind the fise box?if those are ok,there is not much left, the commodo on the steering wheel,
but on the 2006 you should do the error read out,it should give at least a indication, the problem with the headlight screws is classic one,it is due to earlier bad mechanic, maintainance,of course these days, grease and putting grease is too expensive and too dirty?i think even with low budget you should find a good mechanic, there still are good ones....
SOURCE: how to remove tail light housing from fender
The previous owner had left a socket on the tap under the fender!! There are two taps on the housing that hold the tail light to the fender. Taking these two off allows the taillight to be removed.
SOURCE: how to replace left headlight bulb
all you need is the bulb part of it,it just turns out from the back of it,and put the new one in it,be care full and don't touch the actual bulb part of it,your not supposed to touch them with your fingers hold it with a cloth rag or something but the old one just pulls out and the new on goes right in,and that's all there is to it,,good luck,i hope this help
SOURCE: Replacing headlight
Very easy .Lift your bonnet and get to the back of your light ,you will see some wires going into the back of it.And a spring clip holding it in place, remove the spring clip with your fingers, and simply pull the light out the back in one bit noting right way up ,Pull the bulb off the block connector and fit new one DO NOT touch the new bulb as this will ruin it use paper towel ,and reverse proses , If light looks wonky afterwards you have put it in upside down ,but most cars are designed to prevent this.
