My ford explore2002 is making a noise in the bottom in the transmission pan sounds like an vaccum?

  • Charles Tucker Oct 14, 2014

Hi Anonymous, I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box? how loud is the noise -- is the noise constant, never stops, only occurs when idling or does it occur while driving, is it simply a vacuum noise or could be wherring noise or a Fan blade noise? as much detail as possible.

Where is the drain plug on a 1996 ford aerostar automatic transmission?

Call your local Ford dealer.
I think you will learn there is no drain plug.
Most transmissions are drained by loosening the screws holding the pan to the transmission case, which means the fluid will come out all the way around the pan, necessitating you have a very large pan to collect the fluid in.
God bless your efforts.

1990 Ford F150 Transmission

The engine oil sending unit has nothing to do with the transmission problem you are facing neither does a drained battery,If the transmission fluid was low it will neutral out at idle and only engage very harshly when warm,so the level is ruled out,That dole valve noise is of concern that can be the transmission pump or the torque convertor,Just out of curiosity, the transmission pan its not smashed up is it?This is a long shot remove the transmission pan make sure the trans filter did not pop out.And since you have the trans pan out see if there is shiny brass or metal shaving in the pan if there is you are dealing with a internal transmission failure

Vaccum line location on transmission on 1994 ford ranger 4.0

Remove heat shield covering on passenger side of transmission. Pry heat shield from oil pan and then carefully slide it forward to expose vacuum diaphram. There's your vacuum hose!
You can find this and much, much more info in the Haynes Ford Ranger 1993 thru 1997 manual for around $20 at most auto parts stores.

Transmission

Sounds like a bearing in the transmission is failing. I would drain the trans pan and check for metal pieces in the bottom of the pan that normally don't belong there. Normal wear is a gray coating of material in the pan.

Lurches after 20-30min driving, worse when brakes applied

unit is junk.... that much metal and debris indicates clutch and hard part damage.
