Its simple in theory. remove the serpentine belt. Then there are usually 3 to 4 bolts anchoring the compressor. One or two bolts connecting the inlet and outlet hoses with some gaskets. You need to make sure the gas is professionally removed, that is the responsible thing to do. There will be one or two electrical connectors. Just gain access to these things and you will see what else needs to be removed if its in your way. Just dont force or short cut anything to prevent other items from getting broken and snagged. If you know how to remove things it is not hard to do at all. Ford usually has them on top. i cant recall off the top of my head, but to me its all the same.

How to change the a/c compressor clutch?

changing the clutch does not require flushing system. only time system is flushed is when compressor goes bad but you are doing just the clutch. how much more for compressor and are you sure compressor is good? why did clutch go bad? most clutches go bad due to bad compressor, they burn out ,unless it just shorted and wont engage.

Air conditioner compressor seized up?

If the compressor is old, it's not worth the money to just change the clutch. If debris from the compressor gets through all the lines and in the expansion valve, evap and cond coil

I have a 05 Navigator the compressor was not coming on at all. I changed the compressor and it still won't come on.

Check for battery voltage at compressor clutch. Check ECM
(computer) for A/C command. Problem could be in control panel.

Make sure A/C button is on (if equipped)

Air conditioning not working on dodge intrepid. added freon. still blowing out HOT AIR. what do i do now?

I have 2 ideas.

Idea 1: The clutch in your ac compressor could be out.

Idea 2: The ac compressor isn't getting any power. Use test lights on the connectors to the ac compressor to make sure it is getting power. (Test this before trying to change the ac compressor. It is way cheaper to fix a connection than to change the compressor.)

NOTE: ac compressor clutch is not available seperately for this car at discount auto parts stores.

I want to change all the o-rings on my compressor. Can I get a picture of how the compressor is broke down to change the o-rings?

This is a hr6 compressor,I have built 20 of them, and the seals will not hold, the housing of the compressor has to be milled to perfection to obtain a good seal, the gaskets ,and the seals will not keep the compressor from leaking, without machining.

Air cond compressor locked up

Was it the compressor or the compressor clutch? The compressor clutch can be changed out cheaper than the compressor. So make sure you check it out before going foward with changing out the compressor.

Ac clutch does not get power checked fuses and relays all look good. it will click if i jump power is there a known probleml. car sat for a year

Yep your Compressor clutch has gone bad.
You can either change the whole compressor, or just have the clutch changed on the compressor.
You are better off having the whole compressor changed; by the time you pay the labor to have it taken out, clutch changed, and reinstalled, you could have just paid for the new A/C compressor.
