They both work off of the same cable, so I would say that you have a problem in the speedometer head itself and will need replacing or sent in for repair.

I have the same problem where the odmeter works but not the speedometer. I know that from 92-95 toyota trucks used a speed sensor, not a cable. They stopped using cables in the 89-95 body style in 91. So did you figure it out? Was it the speed sensor or cluster? This is the only thread I've found regarding this same problem.

Hello I hope this is helpful. The speedometer works off a small black cable, that run's from the back of the speedometer under the dash to the transmission even if the line looks good it can still be broken inside the line. The line's are real cheap you might want to try to replace it. Hope this helps. Tim

It sounds like the cluster is gone bad if everything is not working. Usually, if just the speedometer isn't working then it's the speed sensor on the transmission that has gone bad. But I think you have a cluster that has just died. Check on EBAY for a used cluster and ask them to roll the mileage to what is on your vehicle now.

There is a cable that runs from the back of the transmission to back of dash.Undo cable at trans end.Spin the inner wire with cordless drill, speedo should move,if not replace speedo cable. Some cables u can pull inside wire from trans end,so don't have to mess with dash

My speedometer is not working along with my odometer.

If your speedometer is not electronic, unfasten the speedometer cable from the back of the dashboard instrument assy. Replace the odometer & speedometer unit with another one. Reconect the speedometer cable. This should do the trick.
