SOURCE: 1987 Jeep Cherokee -Rear lift gate will not open

Remove the trim from inside the vehicle and release the latch rod manually. Once it is open you can further diagnose the problem. It may just need to be lubed from the inside.

SOURCE: 1994 Jeep Grand cherokee rear lift gate

Well My 94 Jeep Grand Cherokee had the same problem and we had to just cut into the lift gate panel from the inside. It required cutting plastic but with a 94 looks arent everything and a working lift gate was worth it. But then we pealed back this black plastic mat under the panel and lifted up on the release bar(verticle bar that lifts the latch) and once we got it open we adjusted a little clamp that had slipped. Dont adjust it too much or when u lock it it wont lock! But sorry i dont know the name of the parts. But then u can screw the panel back in and it wont look to bad besides some cuts.

SOURCE: how can i easily trouble shoot rear defrost

Use a test light and see if you get current to the grid. Check it on the sides. If no current check the switch and fuse.

Does my 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0L 4WD have a

Easy way to find out is to lift both rear wheels off the ground. Have someone turn one wheel and someone hold the opposite one if they both turn at the same time and in the same direction then you have a posi rear. If only one turns or the other turns in the opposite direction it is an "open" rear.

How do you remove the interior panel on a 1992 Jeep Cherokee lift-gate to gain access to the speakers.

if there arent any screws visible then its probably snapped in place all you have to do is pull firmly on the outer most edge and it should release you may need to use a flat head screwdriver.
