If you turn car off and remove key from ignition, th? headlights will stay on until you open the driver side door, its part of an auto on headlight system. you can leave your selector light switch on the headlight position or on the daylight lamp relay (DRL) position. and open the driver side door and the lights will go out and not stay on. so it saves running your battery down. That feature is only on SLE trim line on the Solara.

My 2004 camry wipers stay on and wont turn off until the ignition is turned off and the headlights wont turn on until the ignition is turned off and stay on until the battery is disconnected

Diagrams show a common ground for headlights and wiper/washer "EB left fender". Likely other circuits share that same ground so weird things may happen.

Sorry, I don't have exact location for ground EB.

Possible bad ignition switch. Security is partly ignition as well as headlights r part of security all tied to ignition.

Should be looked at by certified mechanic. Not hard, but not easy fix either.

Why will the headlights not turn off when ignition is turned off?

I will fill in the blanks....you must have a newer car with auto head lights....there is a setting on the headlight switch that lets you over ride the "automatic" headlight mode....maybe you or someone accidently turned it to the manual "on" position...if so turn it back to the "auto" setting......2nd....new cars do have a delay before the headlights go out after parking your car. And if you read your manual, you would see that the time they stay on after turning your ignition key off can be set to several different time settings, including to switch off as soon as you turn the key off.
But if you had accidently turned the light switch to the "on" setting.... fear not....the headlights will automatically go off after the battery is dead....lol....actually they should go off within 2-3 minutes of turning the key off...unless you have an open door or trunk...or engine hood...or maybe even a gas cap door...and your car is telling you "something's open" by the lights staying on....Take that Jim and see if it gets you anywhere.

How to find an electrical disturbance in 1998 ford expedition

Normally this condition is the result of a poor body ground connection. Testing for this can be deceiving. At the static(nothing on) condition, testing can show a good ground. However when a circuit is excited, it has a determined resistance and a set current flow. If the ground connection to this or a branch circuit is loose, corroded, or broken wire. This will allow just enough connection to show as being good, but not good enough to complete the circuit with the required amount of connection when energized.

Headlights stay on when 2005 gmc envoy xl is off

Hello David..some GM vehicles have a feature called Twilight Sentinel which provides a couple of minutes of "headlight on" time after turning the vehicle off. (Check your owners manual for this features operating instructions.)

If your headlights never turn off, the failure is most likely in the headlight switch as headlights are wired hot...meaning you can turn them on without the key in ignition.

Headlights stay on too long after turning off ignition

This is a feature for safety. If you turn off headlights before the engine, they go out immediately.
If you leave lights on when turning engine off, then turn off headlights, they stay on for approx 30 - 40 seconds, to allow one to walk to the door etc, with illumination on.

If you mean several mins, then time it to check consistancy. If consistant, may be a program issue, if not consistant, maybe a relay issue.

The headlight stay on all the time, either daytime running lights or all lights. The car has a sensor bulb in the dash. If you pull the headlight switch on and then push off, they still stay on. Trying...

This sounds like how the headlights on this vehicle are designed to operate. They can be manually turned on if in DRL mode. Setting the park brake before turning the ignition on should keep them from lighting, otherwise they are always on. The light sensor switches between lowbeam and daytime running light modes.

Right headlight stays on with ignition off and hl switch off

Sounds like there is a short in the bulb of your headlight. Try replacing it to see if that helps.
